Van Horn's is a great addition to downtown. We've already been twice. We originally knew the team and their food/service from Bill's Oyster around the block. Van Horn's has a fun, well-designed steakhouse vibe. Classic cocktails (incl a great dirty Martini) and dishes based on "best of" from NYC and other restaurants. I've had the Filet both times (au Poivre the first and with Horseradish Cream the second time). The Filet was perfectly seared (I like medium rare, my wife prefers medium, both were spot-on). Their beef tartare is among the best I've had anywhere, we also tried a range of salads and vegetables. If creamed spinach were great for me, I could have theirs as a meal everyday. We're not big dessert people, but our 1st visit we tried the cheesecake (so good), and the 2nd we shared the cheesecake and layered chocolate crepe (it was unique and absolutely delicious) with friends. Nice range of wines by the glass and bottle, including the GSM (Loire), which was great with the Filet. Van Horn's will be in the steady rotation going fwd. Hosting a Board dinner...
Read moreJoined some girlfriends for dinner on Vanhorn's lovely patio (in November, what a treat). we were prompt greeted by Tony and. He was helpful throughout the evening with attentive service. They were out of a few wines, but he was diligent in finding a Pinot Noir for us to drink. I wasn't in the mood for steak since I had a large lunch earlier in the day. I decided to try the vegetarian entree which was trumpet mushrooms on a fontina fondue. So creamy and delicious! The mushrooms were very meaty and satisfying. My friend tried the burger which she said was very rich and tasty. My other friend tried the miso fish and enjoyed her portion as well. On the pricier side, but to be expected for a Downtown steakhouse. I look forward to visiting again and trying more...

VanHorn’s absolutely blew me away. For a brand-new restaurant, I expected some growing pains, but there were none. The service was smooth, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, big credit to Vin and his team.
The food was outstanding. The Porterhouse steak was cooked perfectly, the Tuna Carpaccio was fresh and beautifully presented, the cheesecake was the perfect finish, and the cocktails were excellent.
VanHorn’s brings that polished classic style steakhouse vibe while still feeling warm and inviting. I’m already excited to go back....
