Cry Faces, Chaos, and Zero Clue – My Experience at Dick’s
I’ve been to some disorganized stores in my life, but this Dick’s Sporting Goods really takes the prize. Every employee in the place had a cry face—like full-on “I’ve given up” energy. Not a smile in sight. Just frowns, dead stares, and the vibe of people who look like they’d rather slap you than say hello.
There were only two people working the registers, and the checkout line stretched across half the store. Nobody moved with urgency. Nobody cared. You’d think they were being forced to work there under some dystopian retail punishment.
And then came the shoe department. I waited an hour—yes, a full 60 minutes—for a guy to “look for my size,” only for him to eventually hand me the display shoe like that was the plan all along. But while I was standing there growing gray hairs, he was helping every tall, good-looking guy that walked in. Full-service treatment. Boxes, sizes, laughs. Meanwhile, I’m short and apparently not blessed with runway model looks, so I stood there like a ghost holding one sad shoe.
It didn’t end there. I came back later to return something, and it took twenty minutes for a group of confused employees to figure out how to put my refund onto a gift card. You’d think I asked them to split an atom. I watched three workers huddle around the register like it was a bomb they didn’t want to cut the wrong wire on. Zero training, zero confidence, zero clue.
And let’s talk about attitude—because the workers here are straight-up rude for no reason. I was holding a football, just testing it out to see how it felt, like a normal customer thinking about buying it. Out of nowhere, one of the employees gave me attitude and snapped at me like I was trying to steal it. Meanwhile, there are literal kids riding bikes around the store like it’s an indoor skate park, and they don’t say a word to them. But me? A grown adult with money to spend? I get scolded for touching a football.
The whole place is backwards. No people skills, no social skills, no sense of how to treat paying customers. Just a bunch of miserable workers who look like they hate their jobs and everyone who walks in the door.
I came in to shop. I left with shoes, emotional damage, and a deep desire to never come back. This is the new store that...
Read moreOrdered a bike online and drove an hour and 40 minutes there and an hour and 40 minutes back because it couldn’t be shipped and that was the only store pickup somewhat close to me, and then after it also taking another 40 minutes to finally be given the bike after arriving because they couldn’t figure out what to do for some reason. After arriving home we notice that a spoke in the front wheel is SEVERELY bent to the point that it can’t be fixed, and the wheel has a hop in it, and even better, the tire also has a giant gouge in it! This bike hasn’t even been ridden yet and it’s like this. And also after giving the bike a look over it seems very improperly put together. The stem face plate is tightened very uneven, the stem is crooked, the bars are almost upside down, and the brake’s BARELY even stop the bike, like they dangerously barely work. So over 3 hours of our time wasted. And then can’t even ride the bike this weekend like planned so plans are also now ruined! ALSO at first they almost gave us an extra large bike, and the extra large bike was covered in a CRAZY amount of scratches, I would’ve refused it because the amount of scratches even if it was the right size. Also was never offered replacement plan or protection plan or anything during entire interaction. Called the customer service number and they said I could return the bike I bought the last bike in stock! And then offered $20 off a future purchase which is in points. Very...
Read moreHard to deal with, and unwilling to price match. I called before going there and was told "We will price match another physical stores price." over the phone. I printed out the price of the air rifle I wanted from Walmart and took it with me since Dick's was closer. I got there, found the air rifle, asked a guy upstairs if they would match that price. He said sure, just take it down to the register.
I got to the register, showed them the sheet, and was told they don't price match online prices. I tried to explain that it wasn't an online price, that I could drive over to Walmart and buy it. They said they needed an ad from another store to price match. Who the heck gets ads delivered to their house anymore? I walked out and bought the air rifle at Walmart for $60 less, and they lost out on a $200 sale. Dick's better get with the times before they go the way of all the other sporting goods stores.
I've had difficulties with returns at this specific location also. I started not going there unless I wanted something the same day, but now I won't even...
