There was a sofa sleeper that I was really interested in I saw online. I went to my local store located in Avon, Ohio, to see the piece before making the decision to purchase.
I was greeted by Melissa B. She took the time to look into the sofa sleeper I had shown her on-line, was attentive, honest, kind, and did not pressure me to look at other pieces as it was discovered the store did not carry that specific sofa. It was available online only.
She mentioned the piece was from another furniture store, and maybe they would have it in store if I wanted to see it in person before purchasing it. Risking a sales loss. She gave me her business card and told me to call her if I needed anything.
So, I traveled to the other furniture store. Several associates walked past me. Finally, I was greeted. I told the associate the story , gave him the name of the sofa, and asked to please see it. He told me they had the sofa but would only take me to see it if I was buying it from them.
I told him, "Well, the other location doesn't have it in store." It is online only, but if you have it, yes, I want to buy it. He proceeded to take me to a totally different model!
He said thats what their store calls it. I slightly chuckled and said it's an Ashley piece. The name I gave you is correct. Knowing I knew he was lying and trying to sell me what the store wanted out, he said they only have that sofa online as well. He gave me a quote at a lower price.
I looked right at him and said that to be successful in this business, you need to be honest with customers. I'll overlook the arrogant attitude, and the lower price means nothing. It was the lies.
I walked right out and called Melissa. We made the purchase over the phone in five minutes.
The customer service Melissa gave from the beginning was superb, and her upfront honesty will have our family making future purchases, as well as spreading the word. And we know a lot of...
Read moreLevin Furniture, Avon’s sales associate, Melissa Blaha was a pleasure to meet in the showroom. Helpful and nformative she helped my son and daughter-in-law find the exact bedroom set they were looking for. Since I was purchasing this set for them as a wedding gift, Melissa worked with me through the purchase of the sale. Since it was an 80 mile round trip ride from my home to Avon, she not only spent most of the afternoon answering all my questions, looking up information and then to my surprise, coordinated with her manager and the manager of the Oakwood store, (which is right down the street from me,) to sign for the sale. I opted for 0% financing for 12 months on the Levin credit card, which was quite a deal! Levin was having a memorial weekend sale and they were able to honor the discounted prices in both stores . Melissa went into her store in Avon on her day off, wrote up the entire sale, coordinated it with the manager in the Oakwood store and then text me the time to go in finish the paperwork. When I got to the Oakwood store, everything had been taken care of, and that’s all I had to do was fill out the credit card information which was extremely simple, and sign for the sale! Tonda ,who took care of me in the general office was beyond a pleasure to work with! She made everything fast and easy and explained everything along the way. These two women, working at different stores worked together to make the sale happen —and it was seamless!
I had not been in a Levin Furniture store for a long time, and I was so impressed by everything they had there. I will absolutely go back to look for items to furnish my home with. Everything was of high-quality and everyone in the store was very friendly. Thank you, Melissa Blaha, The store managers and Tonda for making the process for the wedding gift to my son and...
Read moreI think the store is amazing and carries wonderful products. The staff is also very friendly and welcoming. However, I do have concerns about the sales tactics. Pushing unnecessary add-ons that significantly raise the cost of a product feels excessive. It's important to recognize the difference between a savvy customer and one who may want all the bells and whistles.
When you're spending a considerable amount of money, shipping should be included. We saw great online prices, but once taxes, warranties, and shipping were added, we were easily over $1,000 beyond our original budget. To bring the price back down, we declined the protection plan and chose to pick up the item ourselves instead of paying for delivery. Even then, the final cost was still higher than the online price we initially saw.
We came in expecting to get a great Memorial Day deal, but it ended up being just average. Having worked in sales for a long time, I can tell when I’m being sold to—and I would have preferred to be approached as someone who understands how these systems work.
That said, the store is beautiful, the products are high quality, and the people are genuinely kind. But the extra fees and upselling felt like price gouging. We should have been offered a better deal, especially as customers interested in building a long-term relationship. We’re still open to doing business in the future, but some things definitely need to change—possibly at the corporate level, by reworking the way deals...
