I've searched for furniture all over Baltimore city; no one has a better selection of high-quality, durable, and contemporary furniture like Design Distillery. They're by the south side of the Inner Harbor by Locust Point (heading towards the Under Armour HQ, or Bozzuto's Anthem House). There's street parking- if you find something that's not custom order & ready to go, just use Maven or ZipCar if you don't have a truck or SUV (SUV or van rental by the hr) to pick it up; it'll save you ~$50-$175. I consider their offerings ranging from: semi glam decor, mid-century furniture, and Scandinavian home decor. I'm still designing my new apartment in downtown, but the staff has been amazing in helping me understand different rugs & their purpose (e.g. Comfort, high-traffic, etc), and giving me design input--- even without pitching only their products. Unlike some other places I've visited, like WElm, Arhas, or S*Casa; the staff doesn't hover, ask a million questions, or act arrogant.
So far I've purchased a couch, but they have amazing selection of sectionals, sleeper sofas, accent chairs, coffee tables, & more. My next purchase is a coffee table and some mirrors. They also offer throw pillows, barware, lamps, patio / balcony furniture, etc. unfortunately, I don't have a balcony or else I'd love to take everything home. I've compared their prices to online options- they seem to be about 10% lower, which is amazing since online is...
Read moreLoved every single item in the showroom! Such a great space with some amazing furniture pieces.
This experience is based on a bit of information we received which turned out not to be true. We were told that the item we were interested in (sleeper sofa) was a "quick ship" item. This meaning that it was readily available in a warehouse, and wouldn't take much time to be delivered to us. Once our order was placed, this seemed to be inaccurate information. We ended up waiting a little over a month for the item.
I worked in high end furniture and design for quite some time, and I totally understand delays. Especially given the current climate and supply chain issues. I relayed this to the sales associate, and was assured that this item would not take long at all. This turned out not to be the case- which again was fine. We got it the day before our guests were slated to arrive, and it worked out very well. We love the piece!
The only other note that I have for the DD team would be to implement more follow-up with your clients. We always ended up having to contact DD to get an ETA on the delivery of piece. No one ever reached out to us to give us updates. Even when the piece was ready to be scheduled for delivery, we didn't find out until we reached out. This would just be a nice courtesy given the price point of the items in the showroom. We will most certainly return to explore additional options...
Read moreJust came back from Design Distillery and it’s absolutely beautiful on the inside. The furniture, lights, rugs, and curated art were fantastic. Me, my aunt, and partner went in looking to purchase some furniture for our office. Unfortunately the products were the best part of our experience. We weren’t greeted until about 15 minutes into being in the store. The woman who sits at the front desk completely ignored us like we were ghosts. A gentleman in the back watched us for about 7 minutes before approaching us. Needless to say we felt less than welcomed and not valued as potential customers which is disappointing because we were ready to buy a desk today. And I can’t help but notice how differently we were treated as black customers compared to the nonblack customers that got detailed help from the woman at the front. Treat your customers better across the board. I will not...
