We have two dogs (our fur children) with very different personalities (B: affectionate, sensitive, master manipulator—she can coerce anyone to open the cookie jar for her; and R: excited, nervous, eager to please and safety minded—if you won’t protect the pack from danger, he will!). Finding someone who could be sweet, loving and communicate with B while also maintaining the training protocols that keep R feeling protected and safe enough to relax and have a good walk was proving impossible. Add in that we wanted a reliable but small team of walkers (so we could always feel like we really knew who was walking with our pups) who had flawless communication (B has chronic health issues so careful and clear communication is critical!), seamless scheduling and billing, flexibility to accommodate our busy household (we often need day time, evening and even overnight care) and who could see the best in both B and R (we were exhausted by negative walkers giving “bad dog” reports but not using our trainer’s advice to improve the situation). After trying a slew of different dog walking services and doggy daycares, I thought I’d have to quit my job to be a stay at home dog mom. Enter Dogs of Charm City. They are the unicorn of dog care services: their personal family-oriented approach has us feeling like we are their only clients while they have the resources of a dynamic and engaged community to support us. We have 3 or 4 individuals who helps us care for B and R who are now all close friends (of ours and of B and R)—even being there on our wedding day to support our dogs. They are reliable and haven’t missed a scheduled visit. They offer flexible scheduling and are always there to help us out—no matter what. Their billing and scheduling platform is simple and convenient. They all walk our pups with ease and consult with their partner behaviorist/trainer to fine tune any issues that may come up. The communicate with us constantly (the videos of the pre and post walk couch snuggles are some of our favorites) and we always feel like our pups are safe, happy and loved with them—B and R know them by name and will wag and run for the door when we let them know they’re coming. They even offer off leash pack adventures for our city dwellers to get out and run in the country. They have generated a community of like minded dog parents and support small businesses and local community efforts in making our neighborhood more dog friendly. They offer fun events and activities for dog parents and doggos alike! We have tried all sorts of dog care options and companies and have finally found the perfect solution for our dogs and our family: Dogs of Charm City! We are so grateful to have them as part...
Read moreWe have been with DOCC since our Golden Retriever was a 10-week old puppy and we absolutely adore this local, woman-owned, small business! Lyndsay (owner) not only paired us with the best walkers, but walked us through every step of the training process from a new unruly tiny pup to a well-behaved and responsive juvenile. She supported us through the e-collar process (even when we were unsure) and trained her entire team to do the same.
Additionally, through DOCC you get the same general team of walkers that learn everything about your dog and grow to love them. (Shout out to our dream team of Alexa, Nicole, Ciarra, Peter, and Thavy!) Through this process of the team getting to know your dog, other amazing opportunities for your pup arise such as Pack Walks on a farm, Duet Walks with another friendly pups, and boarding.
Speaking of overnight care, we have been so impressed with Audrey who boarded our puppy even when she was very young and when we went abroad to get married; and Nicole who stayed in our house when she was small and then transitioned to our go-to boarder when our dogs became best friends.
Besides the daily care of our four-legged best friend, DOCC also provides lots of fun opportunities for you and your dog such as Dog Swims, Happy Hours, Dog- Friendly Bar Passports and Advent Calendars, etc. They even have little stickers around all the businesses in Canton/Fells area that tell you which ones are dog friendly!
Dogs of Charm City has made training, boarding and daily maintenance of our silly, energetic girl very rewarding. They are not only a great company, they make my hometown of Bmore a better...
Read moreWe have been with DOCC for almost 2 years, and here is my sappy review from the heart… When we moved to Baltimore we were anxiously searching for a trustworthy and reliable sitter for our Berner. We wanted someone familiar with large breeds and who could assure us they were competent and safe. DOCC is that, and SO much more. They truly changed the dog walking game. From day one, they treat your pet like their own (most of them are pet owners themselves so their love for pets is a sense of pride and badge of honor🥹). They meet you and your pet in your home, ask about their routines, silly quirks, their health, walking routine, diet, the list goes on! They know your dog better than you probably know yourself haha. Their attention to detail is pristine! When they come to care for our dog, every team member comes with their whole heart and it truly shows. From the adorable photos they send (some are literally professional quality haha), to understanding that our dog is stubborn boy who would rather plop in the shade than walk, they make the experience individualized and top notch every single time.
Our appreciation for DOCC is endless, they have been the consistency we needed with our work schedules and have never failed to help us out in a pinch. They have all the details, big or small, covered from start to finish. They even look out for the humans and bring in a package at the door 🥹. It’s the little things that make them a step above the rest. They aren’t just phenomenal caregivers, they are phenomenal humans. They have eased our anxieties and filled our hearts. Our lives here in Baltimore are better...
