Baltimore | Affordable Hidden Gem Mexican Restaurant

My wife and I stumbled on this local gem by accident. The other restaurant was closed and decided to take a chance. As soon as we walked in, the sensational aroma of good food hits you pleasantly. Then looking around at the size of the portions I got excited. I ordered 2 al pastor and 2 carne asada tacos. I was so full that I had to take a nap when got home. My wife in the other hand ordered the Sunday special with barbacoa tacos and soup. This was out of this world. I have to come back with my kids to eat at this authentic Mexican place. By the way service was quick, helpful and efficient. The restaurant is not huge but if you are hungry, I recommend this place 100%.

A truly outstanding Mexican restaurant ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Family owned and it shows in their establishment’s finesse! Everything is top quality: the food, the drinks, the atmosphere! Top tier🔝experience in Baltimore, and they offer free delivery! They also do catering, in-house parties, as well as other events! If you’re looking for a homey vibe and tasteful food, El Taquito Mexicano will certainly keep your mouthful 🌮🎉🌯

Didn't know that it was possible to have flavorless Mexican food, but El Taquito managed to do it. Not only that, but the complementary tortilla chips--which were good---were served with a trio of salsas which were hot and tasted as though they had been left in the back of the fridge too long. This is especially true of the pico de gallo, which, instead of being bright and fresh, was horribly muddled in flavor.

Pozole was the most tasteless soup I ever had. Even after dousing with hot sauce and lime, I couldn't tease out flavor. They came with equally bland tostada.

Dining companion got the paradilla, and the problems with flavor (or lack thereof) continued. The only good thing was the grilled nopales.

We did, however, greatly enjoy the tempache, and could see buying that for take out.

Service was slow and not overly friendly. Atmosphere was loud tv playing some awful 80s era car chase and women screaming show.

Given all the other options for Mexican/Salvadoran food in the immediate area, I see no...

Nice restaurant. Excellent food. Service left something to be desired.

Enchiladas con pollo: well-cooked chunks of chicken filled 3 enchiladas topped with a delicious verde sauce. The rice and beans on the sides were solid. Would get again. A

Tres amigos: sope, taco, and tostada with choice of beef or chicken (got the asada). Excellent meat, carb portion of each was cooked very well. Each covered with lettuce, crumbled cheese, and crema. I cleaned my plate. A

Chips and salsa were okay. Green sauce is very good. Red sauce is too hot to eat in substantial quantity but was okay in small doses.

Space was clean and comfortable. Service was the one thing that really held this place back. Drinks come in decently large little pitchers, but we didn't get one refill the entire time. Waited over 30 minutes before the check before we had to ask, so we could leave.

I will be back, but I'll be more aggressive about getting the...
