It has taken me a while to write this but after finally getting my hair fixed and talking with professional stylists I felt the need to warn others. If you have thick or long hair this is probably not the place to go and get your hair colored. A few months ago I came here to get my hair colored for the first time. I have naturally dark long hair and wanted to have my hair colored a dark ginger. As someone who has never had their hair colored before I didnāt know what to expect but I made sure to call ahead of time to explain what I wanted done to ensure I booked the correct appointment. I also shared photos with my stylist to show her the color I was hoping for. Without telling me, the stylist began to bleach some parts of my hair (which still doesnāt make any sense to me considering I wanted a solid and consistent color all throughout my hair). She then began just applying straight color to the rest and had another woman take over with coloring my hair while she went to finish up on another client. Once the stylist finished washing, blow drying, and straightening my hair I was really able to see just how poorly the color was dispersed in my hair. The color was completely uneven and no where near what I had asked for. I even asked the stylist about the unevenness of the color but she insisted it was even. Truthfully I went home and cried because of how horrible my hair looked. I decided to email the salon asking to come in to get my hair fixed which they agreed to do. In my email I specifically asked to have my hair either dyed back to my natural color or to have them dye my hair closer to what I originally asked for. In their response they simply said they would āfix itā and did not explicitly state how. When I came back in I spoke with the stylist stating my concerns and asking to have my hair recolored completely (like I did in the email I sent them) she then called over the owner (Laura I believe) who was immediately defensive after hearing I wanted my hair completely recolored. She insisted that they had given me the color Iād asked for and the only issue she could see was that the roots were a little bright. She stated that if I wanted my hair recolored Iād have to book and pay for another appointment because it would require too much of their time considering how much hair I have. While I understand that the stylistās time is value so is the time of your customers. I personally live an hour away from the salon and work full time. I spent nearly my entire day and almost $400 getting my hair colored by them. If they were unable to take the time to properly color my hair they shouldāve said that before booking my appointment . I later went to another salon to actually get my hair fixed and the stylist stated that the coloring job I received at Fringe looked totally unprofessional and uneven. Thankfully my new stylist was able to explain to my how one would properly color thick or long hair and gave me the color I was originally hoping for completely free of charge. It is clear based on my experience and some others that Iāve read about, that the owner at Fringe struggles to take accountability. It is also clear that when met with criticism she often responds in a rude and condescending manner. While itās okay for stylists to make mistakes and for coloring jobs to not always turn out perfectly itās not okay for the Managment to attempt to gaslight their customers. Itās simply unprofessional and shows a lack of customer service. I hope that the owner begins to take the criticism her salon receives to learn and grow from it all and hopefully better handle situations like mine...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. I booked an appointment there for a cut and flat iron service for my first hair style/cut since growing my hair back after chemo. I was booked and excited for the upgrade. I mentioned when booking that my hair was fairly short and I wanted to keep the cut minimal because itās my new growth after having lost it to chemo. I arrived on time and the stylist, Marisol took me to her chair and began to cut. She asked another stylist what would be best for my hair so I could tell she wasnāt use to working with hair like mine....curly hair I guess you could call it? While I thought that was odd for a stylist at a salon that brands itself as multicultural to have to ask how to do my hair, I appreciated that she wanted to get it right.
The real problem started while I was under the dryer. She mentioned that she had a scheduling mishap and said that I might have to wait around for a little bit because her next appointment was coming at 11:30. This was at around 11ish. I said ok, not big deal, things happen. Once I was dry, she took me back to her chair and said she was worried because her next appointment (I donāt think theyād even arrived yet) was a color job and she wanted to know if she could just give me a wash and go for the day. She said it was taking longer than anticipated. I donāt know what that meant as she hadnāt had to do anything extravagant or out of the ordinary with my hair. If anything, because I wanted to keep most of the length, she basically did a trim of the back before washing. So my guess is, she wasnāt expecting my hair...texture? Which is not thick, itās just curly.
Professionally, I canāt understand why she wanted to inconvenience me, instead of making her other client who hadnāt even arrived yet, wait an extra 10-15min to start? Or why not see if another stylist could do my flat iron? Why was the person getting the color so much more important than me? Easier hair to do? More money she would be making? I donāt know. I thought the way she handled it was both unprofessional and unacceptable.
I literally left in tears as I had been planning this cut since my hair started to grow back! I booked it on this specific day as it was the anniversary of my mastectomy and being cancer free. Treating myself. I was so upset. I left with sad clown hair, something I could have done myself. Iām disgusted with my experience, especially since there was no compassion for my situation.
No, this is not a multicultural salon.....or apparently not for all stylists. Yes, it seems really well run otherwise. Looks...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have to say the service here is outstanding.
I am new to the city. Any blonde who has moved can relate: it can be a risky bet to put your hair in the hands of a new stylist.
I got the recommendation from Reddit, researched whose work was the one I liked the most in instagram, and set up and appointment.
To start: the place is really cool. It has a relaxed vibe and good music. They will offer you something to drink as soon as you get there.
My stylist, Angel, carefully listened to what my intentions were on my first appointment. I thought I liked the color when I left, however when I got home I realized it wasnāt what I was looking for. Side note: isnāt it always the case that you start noting the problem when you get home.
I contacted the salon, and they gave me a new appointment immediately. When I got there Angel, again listen to me carefully, and we discussed why I was not liking my hair color. She was amazing, she understood completely what I wanted to change and she worked until she made my hair look exactly the way I wanted.
She was really an Angel. I am very pleased with my result and I know that I can go to fringe stress-free because they stand behind their work and will listen to your desires and needs.
I wish I could give them more than 5...
