I was looking forward to visiting this place since I read on Reddit positive comments on having great legit Polish food, I wanted to have a taste of most of the available Polish menu items so I went with the Sobieski’s Feast (a set meal where you get 1 Golabki, 4 Pierogis, a sausage and some sauerkraut.
Absolute great deal, you get a pretty yummy and filling meal for a good price. The Golabki or (cabbage roll) tears apart easily with a fork but the grains remain firm. Pierogis texture and chewiness is fantastic, really fun to bite through and munch on. Sauerkraut and sausage are legit and traditional. Amongst the best restaurant experiences I had during my short travel in Baltimore and one of the loveliest hearty/cozy meals I’ve had the pleasure to eat in a long time.
Thomas himself, the owner is a delight to interact with (you’ll see him bright up when you tell him you’ve heard he does great Polish food). He’s not only on the lookout for providing a great meal but also that you have a great stay in Baltimore, I disclosed to him I was in the city for a couple of days and he started sharing suggestions and commentary on the activities around the city.
The deli offers also a great array of prepared foods in deli containers (sauce and meals) that I’m sure if I were a Baltimore resident I’d be making frequent use of.
Great food and nice service at affordable prices, the...

Read moreA very very big recommendation for the excellent food at Sophia's - and the warm feelings it's served with. I live outside Baltimore and was in the city this weekend, exploring Fells Point with a friend visiting from NYC. I'd read about Sophia's and wanted to try it. When we arrived, unfortunately they had just closed up the hot food service after a very busy festival Saturday. But the owner Thomas came over, and asked us what we'd like, and he re-fired the stove just for us. While we waited, we chatted with his sister, who shared that the deli is named after their mother Sophia and she shared some heartwarming stories of their Polish family history and cooking traditions. So my heart was already a little full even before the food was ready. Our gołąbki and pierogi were fantastic. And to top it off, as we finished, she appeared with two forks and a treat: "This is my brother's cheesecake", she said. It was sublime! If you want a little taste of an authentic part of Baltimore, I strongly recommend you make a destination visit to the old Broadway Market in Fells Point and...
