I was looking forward to visiting this place since I read on Reddit positive comments on having great legit Polish food, I wanted to have a taste of most of the available Polish menu items so I went with the Sobieski’s Feast (a set meal where you get 1 Golabki, 4 Pierogis, a sausage and some sauerkraut. Absolute great deal, you get a pretty yummy and filling meal for a good price. The Golabki or (cabbage roll) tears apart easily with a fork but the grains remain firm. Pierogis texture and chewiness is fantastic, really fun to bite through and munch on. Sauerkraut and sausage are legit and traditional. Amongst the best restaurant experiences I had during my short travel in Baltimore and one of the loveliest hearty/cozy meals I’ve had the pleasure to eat in a long time. Thomas himself, the owner is a delight to interact with (you’ll see him bright up when you tell him you’ve heard he does great Polish food). He’s not only on the lookout for providing a great meal but also that you have a great stay in Baltimore, I disclosed to him I was in the city for a couple of days and he started sharing suggestions and commentary on the activities around the city. The deli offers also a great array of prepared foods in deli containers (sauce and meals) that I’m sure if I were a Baltimore resident I’d be making frequent use of. Great food and nice service at affordable prices, the best of deals.

It's our tradition to buy food here every year for all holidays, we.drive from far away for it. When Sophia owned the place, she took pride in the food and variety. This year I noticed there aren't a lot of options, there were no cakes at all, and the fresh foods were sparce. We still wound up getting many other items but noticed they were not safe to eat once we got home. The expired yogurts (7 months after expiration date) which my son couldnt eat (and once I looked at the date I knew why), also lunch meat that was slimy and couldn't put out on the table. It's unacceptable that the food is that far past expiration date and no one is going through the refrigerator to check it on daily basis. Not to mention we spent so much money to just throw it in the trash! Unfortunately our decades tradition of shopping here has ended as we wont be back and take the risk of getting sick.

Sophia combines the new and the old, the European and USA touches thanks to the owner and chef Thomas Pons. We enjoyed a wonderful Polish menu (stuffed cabbage, pierogis, sausages,…) and a friendly service at Broadway Market in Fells Point. All the dishes are homemade and tasted delicious. We also loved hearing Thomas Pons’ story and training to become a chef m. He had good experiences in many restaurants in Germany, France and Spain. We hope his dreams will become reality soon! Best wishes! We will be back!

Anticipating an Unforgettable Experience at Sophia’s Place with Chef Thomas Pons

As a restaurant buff, I’m always on the lookout for places that promise an exceptional dining experience, and Sophia’s Place in Baltimore has been on my radar for all the right reasons. Though I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting yet, my conversations with Chef Thomas Pons have only heightened my anticipation.

Thomas’s reputation for culinary excellence precedes him, with a philosophy that emphasizes fresh, high-quality ingredients and expertly balanced flavors. The buzz around Sophia’s Place suggests a menu that blends comfort and sophistication, with standout dishes that showcase his signature touch.

Beyond the food, I’ve heard nothing but praise for the restaurant’s inviting atmosphere and top-notch service, making it clear that Sophia’s Place isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. With his new venture also on the horizon, I look forward to seeing how Thomas continues to elevate Baltimore’s dining scene. I’ll be visiting soon, and if the rave reviews are any indication, it’s bound to be a meal...

A very very big recommendation for the excellent food at Sophia's - and the warm feelings it's served with. I live outside Baltimore and was in the city this weekend, exploring Fells Point with a friend visiting from NYC. I'd read about Sophia's and wanted to try it. When we arrived, unfortunately they had just closed up the hot food service after a very busy festival Saturday. But the owner Thomas came over, and asked us what we'd like, and he re-fired the stove just for us. While we waited, we chatted with his sister, who shared that the deli is named after their mother Sophia and she shared some heartwarming stories of their Polish family history and cooking traditions. So my heart was already a little full even before the food was ready. Our gołąbki and pierogi were fantastic. And to top it off, as we finished, she appeared with two forks and a treat: "This is my brother's cheesecake", she said. It was sublime! If you want a little taste of an authentic part of Baltimore, I strongly recommend you make a destination visit to the old Broadway Market in Fells Point and...
