I recently moved at the end of February & I had heard good things about Bobs Discount and so because of that we waited 3 weeks until the grand opening of this store to purchase a couch because we wanted to purchase from them. We were sitting on camping chairs in our living room (still are) we ended up purchasing an expensive couch with every add on possible, protection plan, white glove delivery service, added the ottoman, everything. They told us they wouldn’t be able to deliver for another two weeks because they didn’t expect the amount of business they would get on opening day. We obviously weren’t super excited to have to wait longer but we did, we loved the couch we ordered so we went through with it. On the day of delivery we got multiple messages telling us the time of delivery, we adjusted our work schedules to be home for it, then not even 15 minutes before they were scheduled to be at our front door they said our couch had water damage & it was never checked over before it left the warehouse it had come from. They asked us if we wanted them to bring over the water damaged couch to see if we still wanted it. Obviously we said no because we paid a lot of money for this couch & they offered no discount for this. I had to call customer service & sit on the phone for an hour & they gave me a $100 discount (this didn’t even cover the delivery service fee they charge) but i said whatever, i will take it. They scheduled the delivery out another week. I just woke up to a text this morning saying that delivery will be delayed again because some parts are unavailable. Long story short we have had a horrible experience thus far with them. This was my first time dealing with Bobs & i am incredibly disappointed. I’m not even sure if we will get it the day they say we will because i have no trust in what they’re telling us at this point. Wish i would have gone somewhere else with my business. Hopefully will be able to get a discount for this because it is...
Read moreWe went in to look at some furniture and just browse. The salesman that we dealt with was very nice but he hovered the whole time and just kept asking us questions after questions even though we told him we were just browsing. He kind of forced us to talk about what we were looking for even though we told him that if we needed help we would ask for it. I have to agree with other reviewers that they do not leave you alone. They follow you around and hover. We hadn't eaten anything yet so we decided to go get lunch and discuss it and he offered to price up some things we were interested in and I said okay and he said he would email them to me. We did see a couple tables we were interested in. I got the email and we were shocked to see the price we were quoted was not the price that was at the store, the price quoted was $200 more than the store and they were going to charge us a $250 delivery fee. We've got furniture from many different furniture stores over the past 10 years and I've either had free delivery or only paid $50 for delivery. One other story had something completely identical and it was $50 more in price and they had free delivery. I even went online to a different furniture store and found the same thing and their delivery was only $ 60. Another hard part was trying to navigate through the dining show area, everything was squashed right together and you had to move things just to get by. And the store is very large and very open minus that area. I'd rather shop elsewhere.
Positives - clean store and the sales guy was very nice. I just feel bad for these sales people who are trained to jump on you as soon as you come through the door, I know they work on commission but it just doesn't work for me to be jumped on and hovered over. Welcome me, ask what I'm looking for, OFFER help, don't hover and demand to help. Let me breathe and look around...
Read moreGreat display, love the Cafe. I purchased a sectional in May and still haven't gotten it. I was told I couldn't arrange to pick it up myself. My only problem was payment flexibility, almost like I had to be haggling, was willing to pay for the furniture right then and there, but they kept discouraging that. Plus i was not even going to be able to pay in parts, except for when i said i had to talk about it with my spouse, then they decided to let me pay for delivery and goof proof protection closer to delivery date. They have compition and they know it. They kept pushing there "Bob's card", I wasn't looking to owe intrest on one more thing. No offense to those who have no other option but to go that route. Not to mention what I wanted was not available for another two months. One rep told me I could pick up the items yself if I wanted to in Portland, the Manager told me that's not an option and that the warehouse is all the way in New Hampshire and once I live within there delivery route they HAVE TO DELIVER, either the employees aren't on the same page as management or they were just trying to squeeze all the money they could get out of me. So now I'm paying for delivery goof proof protection (5 year plan that allows for repairs and possibly replacement in case of an accident). Sorry I didn't stick to a local business, atleast I wouldn't have felt bad being haggled by a local. Customer service was...
