02/27/25, Thu Review of HOME DEPOT Store in Bastrop, TX
Just over four years ago, I purchased a very high priced washing machine and pedestal with a 5 year extended warranty for my daughter who lives in her own home on our property. She helps take care of her "old folks".
To HOME DEPOT'S credit we received a buyout on the old washing machine from Home Depot's warranty service for almost as much as the replacement cost.
Shortly after that, my daughter went to the HOME DEPOT Store in Bastrop TX to buy another washing machine just like the old one. To HOME DEPOT'S credit, delivery was very soon after the purchase of the new washing machine. However when the delivery guys from Flugerville TX came with the new machine, they refused to install it on the old pedestal. They said it could only be installed on a NEW pedestal!!!
To say that my daughter was disappointed and upset would be an understatement. I quite honestly was absolutely furious that Home Depot would not install the new washing machine on the old pedestal. I specifically told the delivery guys that I was not angry with them but was furious with Home Depot for not making the requirement for a new pedestal known. The delivery guys told my daughter that they couldn't install the new washer on the old pedestal even if my daughter had taken apart the old washer and pedestal herself! The delivery guys told me that it was because the store wanted to sell a new pedestal, even though it wasn't really needed!!! Needless to say, I asked them to hold the washer pending the order of a new pedestal so the new washer and pedestal could be installed at the same time.
My daughter went to the HOME DEPOT store in Bastrop TX on the very same day to order a new pedestal. She was told by the Bastrop store that HOME DEPOT would not reschedule delivery of the new pedestal and new washing machine because the delivery guys felt threatened! Really??? By a 71 year old man in his Tshirt and boxer shorts????
Home Depot store personnel in Bastrop TX were surprised to learn that the HOME DEPOT DELIVERY SERVICE told my daughter a new pedestal was required! They said that new washers are routinely installed on old pedestals, that a new pedestal was not required! To make matters worse, personnel in the Bastrop store also said that HOME DEPOT delivery service is a completely separate part of HOME DEPOT itself and that the HOME DEPOT store in Bastrop TX does not actually control the local HOME DEPOT delivery service. If the HOME DEPOT store doesn't control the delivery service for local HOME DEPOT deliveries, who does??? For the record, LOWE'S store personnel, also in Bastrop TX, also said that a new pedestal was not required. Apparently the HOME DEPOT delivery guys COULD have installed the new washer on the old pedestal but they just didn't want to or they were attempting to coerce a sale for a new pedestal when they knew the old pedestal was just fine.
All together, my daughter and my wife and I have wasted six hours today on a make believe problem that could have been better spent on something else that needed doing instead.
Congratulations HOME DEPOT in Bastrop TX!!! YOU HAVE TURNED A LIFE LONG HOME DEPOT REPEAT CUSTOMER INTO A LOWE'S CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!
Oh, by the way HOME DEPOT, I was in my T-shirt and boxer shorts because this 71 year retired old man was woken up from a very sound sleep by his very upset daughter to deal with a HOME DEPOT DELIVERY PROBLEM that should never have happened in the first place!!!

Read moreUpdate 5/13/22 Absolutely horrible experience. Order placed at 3pm, called store at 845pm to check status. Was told no one had/was available to pick it. I asked if I could just pick it myself and the employee told me it was fine. Arrived at store that was absolutely in horrible condition. Carts full of merchandise on every isle, stacks blocking walkways, no lumber carts available. There were only 22 2x4s available and were in unacceptable condition. I asked an employee for a lumber cart and he didn't stop walking to help. I eventually unloaded a cart to help myself and then asked for assistance in getting a better selection of studs. 3 employees stopped and talked amongst themselves and a 4th walked up. The original 3 just left without helping and the 4th quickly followed. I literally asked out loud, "is any one going to help" as they walked off but none did. I decided I would pick my insulation panels and hoped that they would return in my absence to correct the situation. There were only 9 panels on the shelf and again were in unacceptable condition. I went to the customer service center and asked if someone was available to help. The employee stated that she had been asking for assistance for hours and had yet to get it. I told her my situation and asked for the manager. The assistance manager Vanessa arrived, one of the 3 who earlier had brushed my request aside, and I asked if we could get the order picked. She literally did not say a word to me and promptly turned and left. I asked the customer service employee if I was supposed to stay or follow and she just shrugged her shoulders. I decided at that point that I was determined to get my items and waited. I had to wait over 30 minutes after having already tried for 30 minutes to get help! As the store closed, the customer service employee told me I could just pull to the pickup area and they would load my truck. Not trusting the quality of materials I had seen on the shelf I had ro inspect the order before accepting it. The items obviously were taking from other stock and were in acceptable condition. Overall, this has been an absolute nightmare. The store was dirty, cluttered, and in obvious disrepair. I counted no less than 20 employees and cannot fathom how this would be considered acceptable.
I drove all the way from Austin to this location to pick up a specific bagging attachment for my lawn mower. As I was Wheeling it out to my truck a giant rat ran out of the side and I noticed a huge hole in the packaging. I opened it in the parking lot and discovered that a rat had made its nest in it for probably quite a while. I promptly returned in store to exchange it an experienced what could only be described as the most difficult same visit exchange ever. They had a new unit sealed in Saran Wrap on a top shelf that they refuse to get down for me and instead got another one from outside that have been weathered and took it into the storeroom to clean it out before bringing it out to me and saying that it didn't have anything in it. I asked multiple times to get the one inside that I knew would be clean but was outright refused. Pretty disappointing for a $400 purchase.
Update 3/19/22
Came for some security light bulbs. Real limited selection, I had seen some in Austin and decided to pick some up but this store doesn't even carry any at all. There was an extremely long line to checkout (self checkout only) on a Saturday night at 730p. Still am extremely...
Read moreI'll preface this with saying that I usually only leave good reviews. But shopping at Home Depot is part of my business and I like Home Depot. I just don't like this Home Depot. Which sucks because it's the one closest to me.
I also waited to write this. I waited for months. I understand even big stores and other businesses can have a bad day or even a bad week. So let's get started.
There are probably 2 actual helpful employees there. The rest will actively avoid eye contact with you to avoid having to help. I went in in December looking for some small cabinet hinges. The box on the shelf was empty. I asked someone at the pro counter if they had any in stock somewhere else. He said they did and walked with me to the isle to find them. He told me what to look for so I could help. After about 2 minutes he said he didn't know where they were and reminded how to keep looking for them and excused himself. When I said I would try Lowe's, he said that was "probably a good idea".
I buy the Radiata pine plywood for my projects. This is the only store where if they have any, it is almost always certainly damaged. The edges are crushed and chipped. It is also scratched and gouged about 90% of the time. I'll update this post with pictures to prove it.
Not every time, but almost every time, someone has stacked other sheets of plywood on top of it. I can never get anyone to come remove the other stuff so I can get what I need. I was told "oh you can just move it over." - the problem is, I don't work there, so I'm not going to move your stock around.
Basically, the service is awful. I understand in a small town the talent pool is shallow, but it makes me wonder who they have managing the place? The store, especially in the lumber section is regularly unorganized and in disarray. I am forced to drive into Austin to visit the Home Depot's that actually work hard to provide a good customer experience.
Great job! Of all the Home Depot's I've been to, your is consistently the worst one. If you want to check my account, you'll see I'm not just a DIY shopper, I spend a lot of...
