Hopefully I will still be able to make an appointment after this review. I’ve wanted to write this for a long time, but genuinely how do you write a review when you know someone has literally saved your life. I don’t know if Dr Gavino truly understands that by doing his job to the best of his abilities, listening and most importantly understanding large quantities of complicated information he has saved my life and given me hope that I can lead a life filled with the things I love and a semblance of normality. He not only led me to a diagnosis that is 100% proven by labs and genetic testing… I finally had answers! A genuine diagnosis… and several "this explains my whole life moments" followed by the necessary prescriptions. Dr Gavino is why I am here today. Always impressed by his thoroughness and how many disciplines he has overlapped in knowledge to diagnose different infections throughout the years. He is the doctor that looks for and finds the answer to your questions. They say when you find a good doctor go buy a lottery ticket. If that’s the case I honestly have already won the lotto, who wouldn't do anything for a few more healthy productive years? If you are looking for a doctor who understands DNA, genetics and a multitude of complex issues such as Primary Immunodeficiencies (PI), Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) and even Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and its complexity of issues. If you want a doctor who is both knowledgeable and caring make an appointment with my allergy immunologist, Dr Gavino at McGovern Allergy and Asthma. A side note, I have nothing but praise for the men and women who work here. Love that they have an in-house lab so I don't have to make another stop and everyone is always so genuinely sweet. A smile and kind word goes a long way when you've had a long day and they always make me smile if not outright laugh. Don't ever stop being the kind wonderful people you are. I personally would love to thank each of you. By doing your job you have made my life longer and a bit easier. Thank you just doesn't...
Read moreDr. Marshall is a very good allergist, yet my experience with the billing department has been poor. They provide no statements and no bills. I called last month to inquire about that practice because I hadn’t received any statements from my insurance even though my son had been a patient for 3 months. They took my insurance information again because they stated they didn’t have it, but I would receive a call back the next day. I never heard back so I called back 2 weeks later and they claimed I had been given erroneous information and they had my insurance information all along and that what had happened is that they had been deducting my son’s visits from a credit from my initial payment that should have gone towards my deductible. Coincidentally, the insurance paid their portion of the initial claim right around the time of my first phone call and now suddenly I owed money. This should not have been a problem because they make you leave a credit card on file and sign an authorization to bill it and yet they did not bill it and stated it was because she liked to call to authorize billing and claimed she had called, although she had never called but only referred to the times I had called. They failed to order my child’s serum and failed to contact me so i wasted time coming in as no shots could be given. I was left waiting while the staff investigated the matter. Mistakes happen and I am generally understanding, but there was zero accountability here and the blame was shifted to the insurance company and to me for not approving a charge I was never asked to approve. I do not plan on using this allergy office for any other family members as I have lost confidence in the...
Read moreDr. Gavino is one of the best. My 8 year old has been seen by many allergists and physicians for years. Although he had been tested for allergies with skin and blood tests, the results always came back negative. For the first seven years of his life, we were always within arms length of a box of tissues or baby wipes. His nose ran like a faucet year-round. After yet another dead end, we were referred to the McGovern Allergy Clinic. Once again, despite much more extensive skin and blood tests, my son's allergy remained a mystery. Dr. Gavino refused to let this mystery continue to wreck havoc on our daily lives. Using a combination of approaches from slight restrictive dieting, to inhalation medicine, to weekly injections, my son's allergic symptoms have had a 80% or better improvement. We have been under his care for right at a year. We still have days with a runny nose but he no longer looks like he is suffering from permanent pink eye. We haven't sent him to school with extra boxes of tissues in months. Dr. Gavino and his staff have overseen every detail necessary to ensure quality care. My wife and I often marvel at how much of our son's medical history he has flat out memorized--impressive considering our son suffers from several complicated and rare medical conditions. We travel from out-of-state and our time is never wasted. The clinic is a well-oiled machine. Every visit has been followed up by a personal phone call from the physician himself. I doubt you can say that about many of your doctors. We are very grateful for the care Dr. Gavino and McGovern has provided us. We only wish we would have discovered this...
