This gym is a family run business, with an inviting feel, Todd, Scott, and Dave are all great. When I walk in the greet me by name and are always attentive to any needs or questions you may have. The girls that work the front counters are always sweet and courteous. One of the girls even noticed, unbeknownst to me that I was being charged still for a tanning package I had failed to cancel and I was promptly given a full refund. The gym has enough, treds, ellipticals, rowing machines and bikes that you never have to wait to do your cardio. The exercise machines and free weights sections are unintimidating like some gyms can be. Yes there's beefy guys, ladies, young students and elderly alike yet everyone is cordial and accommodating in terms of allowing each other to take turns doing reps if neccessary. This gym includes a sauna, which at times can get a little crowded, but if you like to converse in the sauna, that might be to your liking. It also has a steam room and a hot tub. The ONLY reason I didn't give 5 stars is due to the loitering men. I would prefer if they DIDN'T have chairs in the hot tub area as it seems there's a few guys that glare and gawk at the young students and other ladies too. It's fine except sometimes, when I'm not with my husband I feel rather uncomfortable wearing my bathing suit whilst 3 or 4 men sit in the chairs and stare. It might just be an over reaction on my part but you'd think in this time of "me too" and all, that they'd be a little more sensitive to us, I know that there's others that feel this way. If they get rid of the chairs so everyone could feel safe and respected this gym would definitely be a 5 star workout facility. Also, the trainers are great, knowledgeable and always available. Your staff is doing a great job and I enjoy going there 5× per week, I have lost about 30 pounds in the last year and added lean muscle to my frame, I feel healthier and have more endurance and stamina, and it's due to this gym and their dedicated staff. I have gone to many gyms in the past, this is by far my favorite. I do reccomend this gym highly and don't disparage the "gym itself" for doing anything wrong or innapproprite. Keep up the...
Read moreLet's talk about the 6 week challenge.
It's ambitious. It requires you put money on the table. It's exactly what I needed to get going, to be consistent and to get results. Classes are 6am-7am and 5:30-6:30pm MWF. Afternoon class has always had a ton of people, morning class ranges from 2-5 (the trainer Simon is the best!). They'll give you an off-cycle workout for T, Th, Sa or Su. Be just as consistent with it to get results. They'll give you a meal plan. It's TOUGH...at first. They have a bunch of recipes though, and lots of members you can get tips from who've done it. I was at 315lbs at the age of 44 starting out and honestly, it was more food than I could eat in a day, so I was still losing weight without being hungry.
Show up. Be consistent. And it works. Commit to the habit and it'll keep working. 'Getting my money back' (in the form of credit) kept me coming in for 6 weeks and formed the habit to keep me coming afterwards. Once your 6 weeks are done, you can continue the boot camp-style class, get personal training or just use the gym if you've got a good groove going.
As other reviews have noted, the financials are 'different'. In particular, membership billing and receivables seem to be external. Personal training and/or continuing the boot camp class is a separate process and membership is not bundled into it. It also has a 2 week billing cycle process which is weird. That said, Todd the owner was transparent about the initial cost and what the process was, and he was equally clear in terms of going over pricing options for long term use. I particularly appreciate that personal training is month to month, no locking into a year long contract, you can cancel with 30 days notice. The prices seem comparable to other places, the gym is more my speed than other places, and the results are outstanding.
I'm 45 now, 3 months in, and this is the first and longest term fitness program that has worked for me. Hopefully it will...
Read moreJust completed the 6 week challenge program at Bellingham Fitness.
This training program changed my life in a matter of 6 weeks. My goal when entering the program was to put on 7 lbs of lean muscle, and to have more energy throughout my day. I just had my weight out yesterday and I achieved 8.5 lbs of lean muscle! Not only did I crush my goals but I have never felt better, been in better shape, and had more energy and motivation every single day.
I'm just starting out as a broker in the real estate industry and I realized that it was critical for me to begin each day positively, in order to set the tone for a successful day. I begun to wake up at 5am each morning (I used to wake up every day at 9am, so this was a new challenge!), attend the 5:30 training for an hour(There are 4 sessions on each training day - you choose the time that works for you), go back home to eat a great breakfast, get ready and head into the office. By the time I stepped foot inside the office at 7:45am, I am already feeling very accomplished, awake and powerful. Anything else I do from then on became easier in comparison. For the first time in my life I realized that how you start your day is how you end your day. And in pushing myself to join this 6 week challenge, then further pushing myself to only attend the earliest class, I set a strong tone for how I want to live each day.
For anyone who is reading this, you don't need to attend the 5:30am class, the gym is so flexible in offering multiple time slots for you to join training. Even if you don't do the same training challenge that I did, the gym itself is just a phenomenal facility run by classy staff and attended by respectful members. Todd the owner knows how to run a club right, and it shows. The gym has a positive but serious attitude that makes you feel like you're going to accomplish great things the moment you step in.
Check out and join Bellingham Fitness, you will feel so empowered...
