Do yourself a favor and go see Rob at reference media. Having been a closet audio file my whole life today's experience at his store truly blew my mind out my ears. He was able to articulate waveforms and other difficult concepts easily into how he was trying to convey how to set up my first nice home office. After opening my latest business and finding out that you can write off home office stereos and even car stereos, I knew I had to poke around and find the locally owned shop to set my game up. Not only today get my expectations blown completely out of the water today, he was able to save me a lot of money from the stuff I bought online. Not only that but he went back and as I was leaving went above and beyond too too quickly splice some custom wires and banana clips on the end so I can just plug and Play in and out without having to ever deal with twisting on another wire again in my life. His dedication to the craft is obvious after about 10 seconds of speaking to him. I went in to ask questions about a turntable I bought from someone else but was having issues with. Rob helped me troubleshoot the issue and taught me a bunch of stuff I didnt know. Turned out my turntable was defective from the factory and the people I bought it from also sold me the wrong speakers for what I was trying to do. Rob was so helpful I ended up buying speakers and a turntable and sounds amazing! He didnt try to make some massive sale. They had entry level gear and he helped me figure out the best combo for getting me started. I will most certainly be back when it's time to upgrade. Reference media is certainly a great place to see high-end home theater and stereo gear, BUT service is quite something else. I went there today to check performance of a rather costly set of headphones against my current phones, but there was absolutely no one in the store beyond a receptionist, who could not offer any help. It's great to have all that wonderful gear, but with no knowledgeable trained staff to assist it is pretty useless. It is apparent that their large profit points come from large multi-thousand dollar installations, but it is unfortunate that more simple (and lower cost) purchases...
