Sun Sun Sushi Shop — Restaurant in Berkeley

I have to admit I have not actually eaten their sushi. Tragically, my job has me working from 10am - 7pm Monday to Saturday, so I cannot pick up their sushi before or after work, since they are closed. With that said, it looks delicious from the window, and I enjoy staring longingly at the beginning and end of each of my work days. I am giving them 5 stars because I truly wish for their success. The store front is clean, and the sushi looks delicious. I strongly believe that the world needs more stores like this, where you can drop by for just a couple minutes and get tasty fresh food at an affordable price. Hopefully I will be able to come by on Sunday.

I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the sushi here. When you look at the location from the outside, it seems shabby and unassuming, but this may be the best quality cuts of raw fish I’ve had in Berkeley right behind Iyasare.

This spot is NOT a dine-in restaurant, it is designed to be a pick-up and go shop with the exception of a few small tables for made-to-order sushi which I’ve mostly seen folks stop in for their lunch hour. You will also see high school and college students come in after class.

I’ve picked up about 5 different orders and each one had thick slices of fresh, quality fish.

Fresh sushi and super convenient! Sun Sun Sushi is such a hidden gem right across from the gas station and just steps from Trader Joe’s. I stopped by one day after class and was seriously impressed. The seared nigiri literally melts in your mouth, and the crunchy rolls are packed with flavor and texture. They also have hot food and Japanese snacks, which is perfect if you’re in a rush or just want something filling.
