America's Stamp Stop — Local services in Berkley

Like everyone else in the world, I inherited a stamp collection that I know nothing about. Some cursory Ebay browsing indicated that, while my grandpa's collection was broad and not expert-level, there might be some gems in it. Also, it was really in need of organizing and some expert advice would be good. Google reviews seemed great for this place, so I went in today. When the older gentleman got to me, I explained all of the above. No exaggeration here. Absolute honesty. He flipped through the pages for approximately 45 seconds, didn't even examine a single stamp, and said (VERBATIM), "there's nothing of value here." I asked, "what? There's 100's of stamps. Lots from Germany and Europe. Seriously? " He replied, "yeah, they're all pretty common." Here's the best part: he said (VERBATIM), "you ever have a garage sale? World class customer service and conversation!! I stopped in to America's Stamp Shop on a whim on June 22. I happened to be in the area and did not know that they operate the store on an appointment basis. As I was typing in the posted phone # to see if I could possibly come in, Todd came to the door and invited me in. He was finishing up with another customer and allowed me to look around in the meantime.

I selected a few coins I was interested in and Todd got to pricing them for me. He explained his process of pricing up front, which was very fair, and I bought all of them. This place is great! I Called in to check for availability as they usually only do by appointment only. But I was able to come right on in when I called on a Thursday. Small parking lot, so caution if you have a large truck like I do. The owner Todd was very nice and welcoming and was happy to show me some great items for sale or quick to teach you something about stamps!
