Coastal Mississippi — Local services in Biloxi

Fishing is trash! I’m a local and watch people daily taking “gumbo crabs”. (3inches at largest) by the recycling bin full. 14 inch red fish. And that’s just what I observed TODAY. There are no fish coastal. Everyone keeps every single thing they pull from the water and nothing is regulated. If you’ve got a boat. Mississippi has great fishing. But in land you will be disappointed. Better fishing in Orange beach and chandler islands BY FAR. Maybe someone will step up and actually do something about this but not this year. Also……. All the good spots are CLOSED FOR THE SUMMER! AND NONE OF THE PIERS HAVE BEEN REBUILT SONCE THE LAST...

I visited here in July for a 7 day conference. It's an OK place to visit, most casinos are a little dated, homeless were not as visible as last time but still harassed at times. Beaches are right off the main road and just felt not to inviting to me. Some of the locals could use a lesson in southern hospitality since this is a resort community, but unfortunately I just think it's a sign of the times and part of the new normal. Overall, unless you enjoy spending all your time in a casino...

They used to have a lot of concerts and events but now they just seem to host the crawfish festival and the summer fair, which seems to go up in price and down in quality every year. Getting up staged by Jones Park in Gulfport these days, but they do have free WiFi if you're passing by...
