Replying to owner: If you are sorry why did you call me after you saw my review and attacked with "Why are you trying to ruin my business by leaving negative review"? Why did you not listen what I have to say? Why did you hangup on me without letting me explain?
That call was not pleasant nor left impression you are sorry or apologizing, nor looked like you want to resolve the issue, which is the same behavior back then when you all charged me $150 for ruining my frets completely by leveling down instead polishing and shimming the nut instead of replacing. Who does that?
You admitted the guitar was not fixed, but still decided to charge me in the first place? I was not happy and you saw it, but continued to push instead to satisfy the customer. The reason I am submitting this two years later, is because I have fixed guitar a month ago and wanted to write the whole story...from the moment you ruined it till the moment real luthier fixed it.
Further more, you lied to me when I initially came to ask if you all have a technician in the shop that does maintenance on guitars. You said YES WE DO! But that was not the truth. You did NOT have tech on site and I was NOT aware of that. You all took my guitar to someone please without my knowledge or consent nor wanted to share the info (name and phone number) of the tech, so I couldn't reach or talk to. All I could get was his nick name.
I got aware you out sourced my guitar 7 weeks later when I came to see what the heck is taking so long to polish the frets. When I heard from your worker you all lost notes and order paper and the tech and my guitar is not located in your store, I immediately wanted my guitar back. So when I got it, it was ruined.
No more lies Seth or fake apologies, I am honest and guarantee with my life I am not making anything up nor have intention to manipulate the situation like you do. Such as calling to attack me and then publicly act like you are sorry. I am not afraid of yo, so will let you treat me like it anymore. SHAME ON YOU I am your customer not a punching bag!
I never write reviews, but this time was exception because I was not treated right, nor wanted anyone to go though the same treatment like I did. You all costed me $150 + fret replacement & nut replacement, $550 total. Is this what your customer should expect, when they bring 65 year old USA make guitar to the Barnetts Music Exchange shop for fret polish and nut replacement?
If this was done by any other store in the world, they would not charge me not they would be rude. They would cover the cost of frets replacement and return money taken. Which I still do not understand to this day, WHY did you charged me $150 when you clearly ruined my guitar? Why? Because you were sorry? Because you wanted your customer happy? Clearly NOT!
To conclude, I did have bad experience at your shop and twice while talking to you about it. But since it is ethical to forgive, I am willing to give you a 3rd chance to make this right. Cover the cost I had and honest apology will do it, which is what any honest store owner would do, including myself and the luthier who fixed my guitar. If that happens, I promise I will update the review. If not all I can promise is video review to...
Read moreI was happy to see nice store in my neighborhood, so I went there and took my vintage 1960 Alamo guitar we inherited from our great grandpa for fret polishing and new bone nut job.
Introduced myself and ask if they have tech in store to get the job done. They said yes and I left my guitar there.
6 weeks later, I still did not have my guitar back, so I went there to check and find out they have lost my number along with the notes I provided. That wasn't a problem, but when I saw what they have done with the guitar, that was a big problem.
Frets were not polished, they were scrubbed down to the rosewood, not even a 1mm left on the frets. The tech level them down to the bone. Almost no wire left. Disaster.
When I complained they were arguing more then trying to help out. At the end they went and charged me $150 for ruining my guitar.
Additionally, they have not even fixed the nut....they shimmed it with some plastic and call that done. Horrible treatment.
Conclusion: if you want to buy something from that store go ahead, but NEVER go fix your guitars there!!! The only certified tech in town is Seth Lee Jones. Yesterday I took the same guitar to SLJ to replace frets and do the nut properly. When he saw the guitar he asked: "Who did this?", and I said Barnett Music Exchange store. Told him the whole story and he could not believe it. Now I will be paying out of my pocket $400 for new frets. Thanks Barnett, wish you care more and work with your customers to make them happy....
