This restaurant was in the struggle that day! We were visiting Tulsa and we love a good pizza spot this place looked promising. Everything started out great, we had a small wait for them to clean off a table because we were with a group of 8 women. Once we were seated a very nice server came over and introduced himself and we e planned this was our first time in and would need a little extra time to look the menu over because it’s a big menu. We got the time we needed to order and after that is when everything went downhill. So we waited, other customers were starting to coming in to dine which was awesome because we were thinking this must be a great place. After a longer than normal wait for pizza and us noticing that customers that were seated after us near our table started to get their pizzas first we were starting to wonder what may be going on. A few people ordered salads and they hadn’t got their salads either. So when the 3rd group of people who came after us got their food and we still were waiting I called for the waiter. We asked were the salads were and he was dumbfounded that we had not received our salads yet and not sure what was happening. He brought out the appetizers, they were good! Then he left to handle the salads, then the manager just happened to be close to our table and I asked about our pizza and explained that we had been waiting a while and the customers that came in after us were getting their pizzas. The manager stated, “oh when you order a lot pizzas it can take longer” , I stated we ordered two pizzas. She was confused so she went to go find out we’re out pizza was. The manager came back out 20 minutes later with pizzas. Sadly our deep dish pizza was barely warm( so our pizza obviously had been sitting) and the other pizza crust was literally burned not to a crisp but clearly over cooked. I called the manager back over and explained that the deep dish was not even hot and she explained that it’s hard to get a deep dish pizza hot because of all the layers on the pizza, which made zero sense because if you can’t serve hot pizza then don’t serve pizza! She offered to remake the pizza we were on a time crunch to get back on the highway to head home, so I asked if she could run it back through the oven she agreed but she had to remake the other pizza because it was burnt and she recognized that. We arrived at the restaurant at 1:49pm at 3:13pm is when they started the process of remaking the burnt pizza and rewarming the deep dish pizza . Needless to say the deep dish pizza came back hot white nice stringy pulled cheese when I got a piece but honestly by this time everyone was over it and ready to go. The serve came over and apologized and then the manager stated she would be glad to discount the food for our trouble. Oh I didn’t even mention I ordered a kids chicken Alfredo for my daughter and I literally had to ask for more Alfredo sauce because her noodles came out with a dab of sauce and a bunch of dry noodles🙄. The server left to bring back our tickets and the manager also brought out the pizza that was remade. When I received my ticket there was not discount on the ticket so then I had to bring that to the server and manager’s attention they took the ticket and took off $10. With the discount I still had a $79.54 ticket which the experience was not worth $79.54, I was not expecting a free meal but I thought with all fairness with the time we waited the mistakes made she could’ve at the least discounted the ticket $25 but I didn’t complain I was over it I paid my $79.54 and tipped cash and left. THAT WAS MY FIRST AND LAST VISIT TO SAVASTANO’S…… I will give them credit that the deep dish pizza had a good flavor but that is not enough to bring me to...
Read moreWe heard a lot of hype about this place. So we were expecting an amazing experience and awesome food from this mom and pop restaurant especially since they only have 1 location and rely on word of mouth and good reviews. We we were completely wrong. We arrived at 7:40 pm on a Saturday night we waited like 10 minutes to be seated which was good. But the hostesses and boy that took us to our table we NOT inviting or welcoming at all. The boy just threw the menus on the table then turned around and walked away. We were seated upstairs the decoration was nice but upstairs you could faintly hear music playing from below so it was real quiet, they had a projector and large screen but nothing was playing so needless to say the ambiance sucked. There was a group of 6 that were standing around like if waiting. We sat there watching a girl clean off tables after 15 minutes she walked over and asked if we would like a drink. We told her that we were ready to order she said that she couldn’t do that she wasn’t a waitress and couldn’t put our order into the system. After she brought our sodas she said the waiter is busy dealing with a problem of the group that were standing around but she would go get him. She left then came back and said that he was busy with someone and went back to cleaning a table. Meanwhile another table was waiting there bill and boxes, the group said that they had been waiting for 30 to pay. So we literally waited 40 minutes until a waiter showed up. So we kinda brushed off the bad service and lack of any management there it was basically a bunch of inexperienced teenagers running the place. So we were expecting amazing pizza! It was actually mediocre. I would say you could just get a deep dish pizza from Pizza Hut or Hideaway and it would be the same or possibly better and definitely would have gotten better service. We saw something that looked like a salad bar but were never told if we could get some or if it was included or you had to pay separately. They close at 10 but at 9 they started turning off the lights and taking down the salad bar almost like telling us to leave. Like I said it seemed like the place was run by a bunch of inexperienced teenagers. It was unfortunately an all around bad experience and we will not be returning or recommending the...
Read moreWe absolutely love the pizza here, and the salad bar is pretty good..... but, we also remember Savestano's BEFORE they moved to the current location.
Now obviously moving to a building that was new construction in an area that was expected to be the place to go in this area, creates more costs of doing business, but along with that move came things like signs on the salad bar stating "ranch from the salad bar is not for pizza, and you have to purchase a cup of ranch for $.50 each" and other signs that say "no sharing of salads" around your restaurant just gives people a bad taste in their mouth before even tasting the amazing pizza. And, in all honesty, $6 for one trip to the salad bar is not worth it. It's not a bad salad bar, but not really worth that.
The pizza is fantastic, but the reason for my 3 star is simply because the atmosphere here has changed since their smaller location. The service is mostly good, but there seems to be a lot more server turnover than there used to be, and on occasion, service is not very good.
And the last thing to add.... I'm not sure if it was a manager or the owner, but it was someone very high in the chain (I thought I heard owner); but while she was here, walking the restaurant, the mood went completely dull.
UPDATE: I needed to give more info on our food we ordered the day I posted this, as the above comments were while we were waiting on our pizza.
We ordered 2 deep dish and 1 double dough..... BOTH of the deep dish pizzas came out under done. As in, not all the cheese was melted under, and luke warm in the middle. We have ordered them from here many times and never had them under. I'm changing this...
