I haven't been this disappointed with a retail experience in a very long time. We purchased a simple mattress and steel twin bed frame for our 4 year old's first "real" bed. The frame in the store was a dark brown color. The frame that was delivered was metallic silver. When I saw it and said to the delivery people that it was the wrong color, I was told that this was the only color they carried and that it must have been the lighting in the store that made it look brown. So, I went to the store. There was the brown steel bed frame, still on display. The store employee came over and I explained my situation. He said "yeah I just get whatever color they send me, sometimes brown, sometimes silver" and then told me I was welcome to bring in the silver one and switch it out but that the floor model was the only brown one they had. He then told me that he had delivered 30 others and no one had minded the color. I was shocked. I said "you understand that I ordered one color and you delivered a completely different color, right? And you want me to bring it back myself for a floor model?" He then said they could deliver it but it would be next week. After going home and thinking about it I called them and asked if the floor model would be discounted, and was told it would not be, so I told them I would like a refund, and would bring the frame back myself. The person I spoke to this time told me that the brown frame was the "old model" (please note this is the third different explanation I had been given by this time for the change in color, including being told the color I first saw didn't exist). By the time3 I got back to the store I was pretty upset. I walked in and the original employee was at the desk. He said "so you want a refund?" and I said yes. I then explained how getting 3 different explanations and a refusal to discount the floor model was a terrible way to do business, not to mention being told that 30 other people would not have minded, implying I was the one with the problem. He denied saying it, unbelievably. Then said that wasn't what he meant. Another employee (maybe a manager?) then came over and we went out to my car to get the frame. On the way to the car I again stated how upset I was and he said "well you know, 99 people out of 100 wouldn't have minded". Incredible. I said "do you understand that by saying that you're telling me I'm wrong about this being a problem, because no one else would have cared, instead of just taking responsibility for sending me a silver piece of furniture instead of the brown one that I ordered? That's a terrible thing to say to a customer." He clearly didn't get it and just kept telling me how 99 people out of 100 wouldn't have cared about this. Thanks, dude. I now understand that I have caused you to have to deal with an unhappy customer and you're annoyed that I cared about your poor business practices. The rest of the transaction went quickly, I was refunded my money, and I left. I shopped at Furniture 1st because it was local and had good prices, but i regret it, and will not be going back to buy any of the other furniture we need. If you shop here, be sure you get what you actually ordered. I only gave one star because Google...
Read moreI absolutely love this store, they have the Best Selection of furniture in town. They have a decent selection of all kinds of furniture, even higher quality furniture if you're looking for something that is going to last a very long time. The outlet center is great for college students...
I especially was very impressed with their Sleep Specialist (Kyle). I love the machine they use to test my own body type for the Perfect Mattress for me. My wife and I were in the market for a mattress but honestly with every mattress company out their claiming they are the best, it was very hard and confusing for a consumers stand point. Kyle took all that weight off of our shoulders with his very extensive knowledge about sleep and how the right mattress would help maximize our sleep quality.
All of the Sales staff there are very Knowledgeable and Helpful. Family Friendly environment. I have 4 kids so it is difficult for our family to go shopping furniture and mattress shopping together. They had a cool train/car station setup for the kids to play with while we completed the buying process.
We will definitely not go anywhere else for any furniture or mattresses anymore. I am so pleased with the entire process from the very friendly greet when we first walked in, to the delivery crew that took their time and made sure our items were in perfect condition before they left our house.
When we bought a second time there was a small scratch on the furniture that came in and they were swift to replace the piece the very next week with a perfect one. Anyone wanting an All-Star experience from a locally owned company you NEED to shop Art Van before making your final furniture or...
Read moreIf you're looking for a furniture store that values your business I recommend going elsewhere. Based on our most recent experience at Art Van I will not being buying any more furniture from them. In the spring my husband and I went to them to purchase a new king mattress, bed frame and dining room set. We were reasonably pleased with that experience so we returned to purchase a sofa for our living room. They were having a sale (they always are) and it was indicated that the posted discount applied to the listed tag price. We were sitting on the sofa we intended to purchase and even had an employee come by to tell us to remember to apply the discount to the posted price.
We went to check out and were disappointed to learn that the $700 sleeper sofa we were buying in fact had NO manufacturer warranty of any kind and it would cost an additional $120 to have it delivered. We were still planning to make the purchase until the price rang up to $200 more than what it should be. The sofa was in fact "already marked down" and didn't qualify for their posted sale (read asterisk with fine print) even though an employee had told us it did.
They certainly made no attempt to mitigate the sale or negotiate at this point. Not even offering free delivery to help offset the extra expense. Needless to say we walked away very disappointed and believing that our business is not wanted at Art Van.
We took our business to Long's Landing Furniture and we had a wonderful experience. They have even arranged to deliver and loan us their showroom sofa until the new sofa that we ordered comes in. Check them...
