To say I am unhappy with Menard’s is an understatement. We generally shop at their competition, but my son is doing some upgrades to his first home and they had the better price on interior doors at the time. So, being on a budget he wanted to purchase the doors there. This venture started just prior to the COVID-19 shutdown of non-essential businesses. So, having a deadline and with projects already started, we had shopped there throughout the last couple of months, uneventfully with no carts being disinfected, no distancing spots taped off on the floor and no masks required. We brought our own hand sanitizer and everyone stayed the approximate 6 feet apart on their own. So, imagine my surprise when I went in to pick up an order to discover that now masks are required and no exceptions are made. Since I did not have one, they conveniently offered to SELL ME ONE... keep in mind, I had no choice but to pick up the order, as anyone familiar with lumber yards knows that trim, doors etc. do not match from one establishment to the other. So, once you start a project like “trim in this case”, you are stuck with them for that entire section of your build. Anyway, I wasn’t happy that we had spent, by this point, thousands of dollars on numerous items and they want to “charge” me for a mask. What made the situation worse was, they did not even offer curbside pick up, which I would have been fine with. I’m am not against “staying safe” but if that is their “true concern” then you should be able to place your order online and pick it up outside like their competition offers. I feel they are taking advantage of people and using the pandemic as an excuse. It’s not the couple of bucks they charged me for the masks, it’s the point that they offer no other option. I FEEL LIKE IF THEY WERE TRULY WORRIED ABOUT PEOPLES HEALTH AND THE COMMUNITY THEY SERVE, THEY WOULD BE GIVING MASKS TO THEIR CUSTOMERS WHO DO NOT HAVE ONE , AS WE ALL KNOW HOW HARD THEY ARE TO COME BY CURRENTLY. Other large companies are going out of their way to help people out during this time, but Menard’s only seems interested in holding out their hand for more money!!! Needless to say there will NEVER be anymore shopping at Menard’s for us, we will stick...
Read moreI don't normally do reviews, but Menards have spurred me to come out of my shell and do this one.
I have never dealt with such an atrocious company in my life. And I fly a lot, so I have to regularly deal with airlines! If there was a zero star option, I would select that one. In November 2016 I placed a special order for a washer and dryer. We were told that it would arrive December 14th, 2016. December 14th rolls around, nothing. I follow up and we are told that it isn't here. When I ask why they've missed their date, they decide to cower behind a technicality of "it was only a projected date and is in no way binding". This was the first I'd heard about such a technicality, by the way, they didn't say anything like that to me when I was looking to purchase. No apology, no proactive customer service, nothing. The only time they have been efficient and pro-active in this whole charade was when they were taking my money (a not insignificant amount)!
It is now January 17th, 2017 on this review. More than a month after the "projected" delivery date, and there is still no sign of this order in sight. I am merely told that it is "in transit". No other information, and a refusal to give an exact date. The washer, apparently, is in stock, I learned. They are just waiting on the dryer. When I told them to go ahead and deliver the washer now and the dryer as it comes, I was told "that would incur another delivery charge since we would be making two deliveries". They said that to a customer that they had stiffed out of over $1500 and have gone over a month without delivering on what they have sold! They were not prepared to be proactive about the situation and simply swallow a second delivery fee to keep me happy. I have never met such incompetent, entitled, lazy and unscrupulous people as I have at Menards.
My wife and I recently moved house in November of 2016. We are still without a washer and dryer, having to resort to our local laundromat. We have big plans to remodel at least three rooms in our house. Menards will get absolutely ZERO of that business (my estimate is looking at about $20k). I will have absolutely nothing to do with this company ever again, and cannot encourage people enough to AVOID...
Read moreWent inside where i have to walk all the way to the back of the store to get to the contractors area... Then sold 4 items that have to be picked up outside in the yard.. So after walking all the way to the front so i can pay... " this is all marketing they want you think of something else you might need or want and impulse buy it". Then get in my vehicle and drive back around to the back 50' from where i had walked to get my load ticket.. To find that they only had 1of the 4 items i purchased... This is something i needed to finish a job.. You would think their computer would keep track of the inventory what has been sold and stocked??? But after all of this waste of time i went inside to get my money back and the manager hands me off to a cashier and she says so you want to return these items and i said no... She said then what is it your wanting... I told her i cant return something that you never had and i never was able to recieve to begin with... This is the mantality you recieve when you do business with menards. I have returned things here in the past and they tried to rip me off and not give me my full refund.. Had to get the store Manager involved and he had to review the security video before they would refund me the full amount of what i had returned and restocked for them.. This is after basically being called a lier buy a clerk that all he ever did when i seen him there was stand at the front exit doors and look at you like your packing off the store when your leaving... I have been to lumber yards all over this state and i have never been treated like i have been here.. I had to literally almost get into a physical altercation before they would even call the store manager. Had 3 clerks in my face saying i was lieing before the manager came and refunded my money... I have been to other Menards in this state and never seen anyone that just stands all day at the exit... I would strongly urge anyone to go out of town if they just have to do business with Menards... Because if they where all like this one nobody would SPEND big money...
