So incredibly disappointed and disheartened by our experience shopping for an engagement ring with Arvik and Zeki at Boston Diamond Studio.
My boyfriend and I first visited their store on 12/30/2023 to shop for engagement rings. We were shown two diamonds - one of which was nearly double our budget. We were also shown examples of ring settings, that did not have center diamonds in them. We ultimately chose a 2 ct radiant diamond and a 14 kt gold band with a hidden halo.
After selecting the diamond, I was having second thoughts. I went back to the studio on 1/13, and had asked to see a few other options with similar specs (and specified that I was okay with smaller diamonds) that were within our budget. I was shown ONE other diamond, that was again, outside of our budget. I decided to move forward with the original diamond as we had already paid a deposit.
What we received on 2/2 was not a hidden halo - the accent stones on the gallery rail were very much visible when viewing the ring from above, as the gallery rail was constructed on the outside of the prongs. It also was too big, despite me being fitted at our consultation.
We again met with Arvik and Zeki on 2/17 to discuss our concerns. We were told over and over again that they had delivered exactly what we had asked for. I was told that I should have specified that I did not want to see the hidden halo from above - though this was not something they asked me about or educated us on during our consultation. At the end of the day, they are the professionals and should know to ask these important questions. If they had done their job it would have saved us a lot of time, money, and stress.
When asked what they could do to fix it - Zeki said that they could give me what I wanted (with the gallery rail inside of the prongs), however they would not stand by the integrity of the ring, stating “if it breaks, it is not our problem.” This is obviously not a solution. I asked (out of genuine curiosity) how the gallery rail supports the integrity of the ring and Zeki responded “I have over 30 years experience, I think I would know.” Arvik then joined us and offered a different setting but said that the hidden halo may also be somewhat visible from above - which, again, does not solve the issue. We were told we would need to pay for any corrections to the ring. We asked if they would refund the cost of the band so that we could have the diamond reset elsewhere - Zeki refused.
Lastly, during our consultation I was sized and ordered a 5 1/4. And I did indeed recieve a 5 1/4, however the band easily slid right off my finger. Arvik insisted that the ring was the correct size as it is what I ordered. She offered to put small beads inside the band to help it fit better - I declined, because at this point I had lost all trust in them.
During this ordeal, I was told that I am “too detail oriented.” They were so cold and completely lacked empathy - Zeki especially. All they cared about was proving that they gave us what was on our order form. They did not care that I was unhappy with the product nor did they care about reaching a feasible solution. I left their studio in tears.
We then brought the ring to another jeweler to be reset. After dropping the ring off, we received a call informing us that the setting had been constructed with recycled gold and solder, and was so porous that it could not be used to reset the ring. We again called Boston Diamond Studio as this was not something that we had agreed to, and their response was that they would “never in a million years” use recycled metal. We were shown by our new jeweler the areas of porosity under a microscope. We eventually were able to return the diamond and the setting for a full refund.
We had such a horrible experience and are filled with so much regret that we put our trust into Boston Diamond Studio. I would not recommend shopping here for an...
Read moreFORCE THEM TO CHECK YOUR RING SIZE AND GET A SECOND OPINION.
Beautiful rings and great conversation, but the owners are very hard to work with. Arvik and Zeki helped my wife and I buy our wedding bands and my wife's engagement ring for our wedding and we relied on their expertise for sizing. They never officially sized either of us and in trying on rings they reassured us they fit perfectly. After a few weeks my wife was too worried to wear her engagement ring without losing and we made an appointment and set a date to travel back to Boston to speak to Arvik and Zeki about sizing.
They were adamant that the sizing was accurate, but with persistence they agreed to help. After a few weeks they soldered beads on the inner side of the ring which still seemed too large. They firmly stood by their work and held fast their opinion that the colder temperatures are the reason for the ring sliding up and down the finger. They also stated that since the ring was so small that it was very hard to resize and they were worried about damage or breaking the platinum band. We unfortunately took their advice for the last time. We decided that if we forced them to resize the ring we would no longer trust them to do a proper job. Customer lost at this point.
After our wedding we attempted to wear our wedding bands that were also too large. My ring, which is not able to be resized at all due to the material it is made of, flew across the restaurant after sliding off my finger. At this point we are so disappointed and hurt as we really liked Arvik and Zeki as people, but not as professionals.
After getting a second opinion from another jeweler, they were shocked that Arvik and Zeki never measured and sized us for our rings. They were angered that Arvik and Zeki didn't resize my wife rings and used the solder bead method on the inside of the ring. They were were livid Arvik and Zeki they sold me a ring that couldn't be resized at all without checking my size.
Although we now have a reliable and local jeweler that fantasticly resized the platinum engagement ring and platinum wedding band for my wife (which was supposed to be too difficult) it was an expensive lesson to learn as my wedding band cannot be resized and is too large. There is no excuse. This was either blatant laziness motivated with missleading intentions or reflects a lack of expertise in the industry.
Update after owner response: This review is in no way an attempt for rehabilitating the service we have received from Arvik and Zeki. This is purely a review of our experience. To clarify what is stated above with "customer lost at this point", after multiple complaints in person regarding sizing and being met with pushback via firm disagreement regarding sizing we longer trust Arvik and Zeki professionally and morally to provide the most basic of service for a jeweler; sizing.
The owners response to suggest they did a "thorough review and couldn't find any record of our interaction and business" reflects the type of service you will receive from conniving owners that will push to make the sale and not stand by their work and business. A "thorough review" with the information provided here in this review and turning up no results is about as accurate as their word that our rings fit without measuring...untrustworthy.
Please note that the owners are updating their comments to this review after my updates. They have done so twice already to further suggest they are far from a trusted advisor for any and all of your jewelry services. This is my accurate review as a customer with justified and...

I came to Arvik and Zeki at Boston Diamond Studio with a set budget and only a rough idea of what I wanted -- and they absolutely exceeded my expectations. I left with a stunning, custom engagement ring AND wedding band that I'm completely in love with.
Even though I didn't know all the technical details upfront, they patiently guided me through everything. I ended up choosing a platinum solitaire basket setting with a hidden halo, and they helped me make the right choice for my style and budget. I recommend discussing if you want the ring to sit flush with your wedding band -- they made sure the final design aligned perfectly. Their attention to flush setting compatibility was especially helpful, as it's something many overlook but makes a huge difference in comfort and stacking.
The diamond they sourced for me was absolutely gorgeous -- a 4.1 carat, D color, VVS2 clarity -- and I genuinely couldn't be happier. They picked us the highest color (D) and one of the best cuts with minimal inclusions. They clearly know their diamonds and only offer the best specs within your price range. ( I was not as picky with my band as I was with my center stone engagement ring as long as the stack was flush).
There was a small mix-up with my wedding band (I received a different one than the one we originally chose during my consultation), but they corrected it immediately and free of charge. Their customer service is top-tier, and I truly felt they cared about my satisfaction every step of the way.
I also needed my ring resized, and they literally sized it in one day ( I used sizing beads because when I wear my band it will sit higher on the fat pad of my finger)-- so I didn't have to go without my engagement ring for too long. They clearly understand the sentimental value.
What amazed me most is that they did both my engagement ring and wedding band within the budget I came in with -- something other jewelers in the same building would've tremendously marked up. I'm incredibly grateful I chose Boston Diamond Studio over all the other options. I kid you not: name your price and they'll do everything they can to source exactly what you want. I do feel like I received such a good deal for the engagement ring and wedding band at a combined price. It is unheard of.
If you're starting this process, my biggest advice is: do your research, come prepared with photos, and know your desired specs. But even if you don't, you can trust Arvik and Zeki to create something beautiful for you.
Let me show you my pinterest inspo picture and what they made me -- and how accurate they were. The match is insane. Nothing bad to say, trust them! I will be a long term customer. Can't wait to create more bands with them in the future.
Thank you...
