I had spent over two months looking for the perfect ring when I accidentally stumbled upon Bostonian Jewelers. I was looking for a vintage style ring with a D/IF, excellent cut and symmetry stone.
I stumbled upon Bostonian leaving a much larger jeweler. They had several vintage style rings in their window. Honestly, I realized that I had dismissed Bostonian earlier in my search based on their website. Their website does not do them justice at all. They have a very large selection with many different styles. Alexandria walked me through the different settings; many of them are her own designs. There was never any pressure. In fact, I left the first day undecided on the setting.
Hagop talked to me about the stone that I wanted. He didn't balk at my suggestion of purchasing the stone online. He never tried to steer me towards his stock or away from what I wanted. He only asked that I give him a few days to try and find a stone that fit my requirements. He did actually find a stone, but it was just a little larger than I could go, so ultimately I ordered the stone online; but there was never a change in their attitude towards me. Both Alexandria and Hagop were very responsive to phone calls and emails throughout the process. They often responded off hours and even offered to stay late to meet me one evening. They also assisted me with engraving a jewelry box for the event.
I finally decided on one of Alexandria's personally designed vintage style settings. It is intricately detailed, beautiful, and perfect. Bostonian had the largest selection of vintage style settings that I found during my search and I couldn't be happier that I didn't settle for something lesser.
Bostonian Jewelers has a genuine "mom & pop" feel to it. Hagop and Alexandria are vested in their business and vested in their customers. It was nice to deal with people that haven't forgotten the art of connecting with people.
I had been to about a dozen jewelers before Bostonian. Every one of them tried to talk me out of what I wanted. The typical sales pitches trying to lead me into what they had in stock. When I would suggest purchasing the stone from a reputable online Jeweler (which several stores actually carried their products), salespeople's attitudes would drastically change. It was a very stressful ordeal prior to finding...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of working with Alex and Hagop to design and manufacture an engagement ring for my (now) fiance. From start to finish, the entire process was excellent!
My family has worked with Bostonian Jewelers over the years and recommended I give them a call when I first started engagement ring shopping. I am from Boston, but currently living in San Francisco and have been traveling to Boston for work on and off over the last 3 months (usually on very short notice with little time to plan). Alex and Hagop went above and beyond to meet with me whenever I had free time during my very busy business trips. There were multiple occasions where they stayed after normal business hours to work with me on the ring design... which included everything from Alex making real-time adjustments to the CAD drawing with me sitting next to her, to Hagop bringing in several different shapes and sizes of diamonds on short notice so that I could see them in person before making a final decision, to them showing me the wax model 3D print in person as soon as it was ready.
I wanted to surprise my GF with the ring of her dreams, but I do not have the best design sense... I cannot stress enough how great it was to work with Alex on the design. I showed Alex my GF's pinterest board and shared some other pictures of her and her jewelry and just from that, Alex was able to get a sense of what my GF would like. Alex's excitement about designing the ring was very noticeable and contagious throughout the entire process. Every time I went into the shop she was thrilled to show me the progress she'd made, and she would send me picture updates of the design, wax model, sample stones, etc. whenever she had the chance (I asked, but she was happy to do it!).
All in all, I must say, we really nailed the design (much to Alex's credit)... my GF was, and still is, ECSTATIC every time she looks at the ring!
Thank you both again and again for all your work helping me make this once in a lifetime experience truly perfect!!! I would recommend these guys to anyone looking for a great jeweler...
Read moreMy husband purchased my engagement ring from Bostonian in 2007. It is a gorgeous estate piece like nothing else I've seen. We went back to have a wedding band custom made to match. Since then, we've moved to NY, but still whenever I have a piece of precious jewelry that needs repair, I make the trip back to Bostonian. I often also take jewelry from friends or family that need work. They have replaced the stone in mother's engagement ring, repaired my sisters pearl ring (after we'd had it repaired multiple times at other jewelers and the pearl kept falling off- it's been years since Hagop repaired it and it's never fallen off since). They also repaired a pair of hollow gold hoops that were my mother's favorite earrings (a souvenir from a trip to Greece in her 20s) until our puppy bit them and crushed them. Hagop was honest that they wouldn't be good as new, but we chose to proceed and were very happy with the results.
Recently, I fell and cracked the band of my engagement ring. I wore it broken until I could get to Bostonian for repairs. I just didn't trust anywhere else. As an early anniversary present my husband and I asked Hagop to put sapphires and diamonds into my wedding band to mimic the look of my engagement ring (something that we couldn't afford when we got married). When I got the rings back, it was like being newly engaged. The rings are gorgeous.
I highly recommend Hagop and Bostonian to everyone I know. We've been customers for over a decade now and have never been...
