Note: before today, I've never had a bad experience with Geek Squad!
I came in without an appointment to see about my laptop battery which I didn't think would take 5 minutes. While I was there, the guy helping me commented on how long it was taking my laptop to start up and started telling me that my hard drive was most likely going bad. Fine, great, but then he suggested that I upgrade to an Apple computer to which I firmly denied. He once again said I should upgrade and I said no once again because of price. He ONCE AGAIN said I should upgrade because PCs and Macs are apparently the same price now (his example was a $700 pc vs a $1000 Mac) to which I finally said that I had only paid $500 for my laptop and that was good enough for me. Read moreVery unpleased with in store service. Dropped my pc off to have a new operating system installed. The manager is who I did the transaction with. He talked me into buying the tech membership and didn’t even give me a receipt with a service number. Went back to the store three days later and turns out he didn’t even input any information into the computer regarding the order. The employee working there said I would just have to come back in a couple days when the manager is available. He also said that they haven’t even started working on my computer yet. Very unsatisfied and I recommend a local tech store before geek squad any day. I have worked on computers for years and the only reason I didn’t fix it myself is because I was in a time crunch. Read moreI have had my laptop in at geek squad for almost a week now, and it still isn't repaired. I have called in several times to check "on the status of my repair". 1 time I was on hold for 35 minutes only to have some one pick up the phone and hang it up, and called back twice back to back and couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. I have called 2 other times and one tech said that the motherboard was out on my laptop, then another said it just had a virus..... In other words, they just don't have their act together. So if you buy a computer from best buy, don't bother getting the geek squad warrenty, becuase it's pretty much worthless, if you go to the best buy/ geek sqaud in...
