I rarely go to the mall, but I took my teen son there to shop for a prom suit recently and we stumbled upon this little music shop. I literally stopped in my tracks when I saw it and joked with my son that we must have stepped back in time. It has been many years since I saw a music store inside of a mall and mall music stores were a home away from home for me and my friends when we were teens.
The shop has a massive t-shirt wall, some cool posters, a great music selection, and some stickers and incense. I noticed alot of metal albums and shirts, more than I usually see in other record stores.
These days I usually buy my music direct from the label or artist's website, but I decided to buy a Tame Impala album even if it cost a few more bucks to buy it in store just to support the shop.
The guys running the place were friendly and definitely look like they have a passion for music.
I highly recommend checking this place out and making a purchase to support this...
Read moreA great record shop with awesome staff, but the games section is lacking. This review is from the perspective of a retro video game collector.
Inventory: 1/5 Mostly sports titles. Only a few sparse shelves of games, and a couple more desirable titles at the front counter. On the plus side, they do have some new 3rd-party cables for retro consoles.
Value: 3/5 Most game prices are decently close to market value, but some seem to be priced arbitrarily. I'd recommend checking against VGPC or eBay while browsing.
Location: 5/5 Convenient placement in the heart of Greenwood Mall! Store is clean and well-organized.
Overall, 4/5 because Hard Copies succeeds as a record store which is its main focus. As a retro game store, it doesn't have much to offer today, but it could become much better if and when inventory is expanded. I'll definitely be back, and will update my review if...
Read moreOn the plus side the store has t-shirts (lots of t-shirts and very few of the actual records that are printed on the shirts) Most of which can be found if you look on rockabilia. Everything is marked up to pay that mall rent. Can't find any good deals in this shop because of the gouge markup prices, brings that big chain store feel, without the customer service to back it up.Owner is an "out of towner" trying poorly to act like a "Chill local cool guy " when in reality a shifty money grubbing poser. Don't waste your money $$$$(expensive previously owned product with no grading or standards.) There are actually several other Real Local Record Stores here in town. (Without shady posers at the owner's helm) save yourself money and the hassle of going to the mall and check those...
