Buyer beware: DO NOT BUY FROM FREDâS APPLIANCE. If I could give zero stars I would. I Purchased a large appliance from salesperson, Mike Hanson at Fredâs Appliance in Bozeman, MT on August 20. I was also supposed to go back to purchase a high-end Italian brand gas rangetop from him in the near future. Check was cashed a couple of weeks ago and whereabouts of this unit is still up in the air. Mike Hanson told us they had them in stock and it would take about a couple of weeks for us to get it. That was close to three weeks ago . We explained to him that we had to travel on September 13 and we purchased the unit on August 20. He assured us because they were in stock that it would not take that long. After the two weeks passed, Mike Hanson never called us to give us any updates on delivery and I had to be the one calling him to find out delivery times. He said he had to check and call me back, but he never called me back so I had to call him again a few days after. He then said that it showed the unit would be arriving at their location Monday, October 8 and put us for delivery today, September 9. I coordinated installation for Friday, September 12 and also postponed my trip for September 20 in order to accommodate the delays for this delivery. I called him this morning to find out the time of my delivery scheduled for today and now he says theyâre supposed to get it at their store on September 15th, and he states he has no clue when we can be scheduled for delivery. He never called us to let us know that the unit was not in the truck to be delivered today, September 9 as he told me last week when we spoke on the phone. Upon me calling him this morning, he now says the new ETA, which is very vague, is for next week on September 15 to arrive at their store. Upon me explaining to him how I was not happy with the way he was handling this delivery and the lack of communication on his part. He offered right away to process a return and refund the money and mail a check to us. When I insisted on how dissatisfied I was with how this was being handled. He proceeded to say: â I am not doing thisâ and hung up the phone as I was in mid sentence. He hung up the call on me.
We told him at the time of the purchase that we had limited time here I wanted to at least try the unit a couple of times before our departure. He now told me that Freds appliance cannot give any exact delivery times and there is no way for him to know whatâs going to happen with a delivery. I told him he shouldâve let me know that delivery scheduling at Fredâs appliance is that unpredictable so we couldâve made the decision at the moment to proceed with the purchase or not since we have limited time here.
I am not sure if Mike Hanson has authority to drive your customers away in this fashion. I will never purchase any other appliance from Fredâs appliance and I would like for ownership and upper management to be aware that Mike Hanson is hanging up the phone on your customers midsentence and would rather refund a sale than try to work with your customers. He will not hear any sort of criticism or dissatisfaction from a customer.
I do perfectly understand that delivery dates might not be exact because you are working with third-party delivery companies as well as installers and I was willing to continue to work with him to try to get my appliance delivered .
My dissatisfaction has to do with Mike Hansonâs lack of communication and lack of consideration and with the way that he refused to hear my dissatisfaction, even though I was respectful and professional the whole time with him and he decided to hang up the phone on me midsentence. A spoiled child like behavior. Moreover, after calling back another sales person let me know that there is no management on site to help me with this situation. Now we have to sit back and trust that our refund check will be mailed to us because they cannot even tell me an ETA on that. We had previously purchased a microwave from Fred's appliance in Bozeman and were please with the service, so we included them in our search. We figured out what we thought we wanted and went in to the Bozeman showroom. Our salesperson was Scott and he was quick to listen to our "wants and don't wants" feature wise and showed us the selections that matched our list of features. Scott then asked us some questions about how we use our range, shortcomings of our previous range, things we had liked about it etc. He really took the time to listen and then showed us some other models that not only met our needs, but exceeded in other areas that we hadn't even considered. Scott was knowledgeable, helpful and not at all pushy to "make a sale", but rather had the attitude of making the customer happy. We were thrilled that he acted as a consultant rather than a salesman. We purchased the range we finally decided on; which was certainly not what we came in for; but are more than happy with our purchase and the features. The delivery was as promised and brought by a team that was respectful of our house and of us. We will certainly go to Fred's for any further appliance purchases and will definitely be asking for Scott as a salesperson due to the integrity that he displayed during our buying experience. 11/6/19 UPDATE: We had such a great experience when purchasing our range (Which we are still thrilled with) that we went in and talked to Scott about his recommendations to update the rest of our appliances which included a fridge and dishwasher. I explained that we wanted to stay with GE so it would match our recently purchased range and I explained what we did and didn't like about our current appliances. Once again Scott went out of his way to understand what we wanted and how we use our appliances and then made his recommendations. Just as we did before, we took the time to go home and do our research and we never received any "high pressure" sales tactics from Scott, he encouraged us to think about our purchase. Once we researched we found what Scott told us to be right on the mark per consumer reviews. We ordered and received our new fridge and dishwasher and were impressed with the delivery team and how the treated our house while removing the old appliances and installing the new ones. And once again, we are thrilled with the recommendations that Scott made and have been enjoying our new fridge...
   Read moreI am writing this review to share my utterly frustrating and disappointing experience with Fred's Appliance in Bozeman. In October 2023, I made the unfortunate decision to purchase a new washer and dryer, along with two pedestals, from Fred's. Little did I know that this would turn into a four-month ordeal of incompetence, poor communication, and complete disregard for customer satisfaction.
Firstly, the pedestals were delivered in the wrong color, and it took an unnecessary amount of time to rectify this simple mistake. Following the installation of the washer and dryer, the front door of the washer was damaged. Fred's had to send a new door, adding more delays to the process.
The real nightmare began with the pedestals. On the first attempt, the wrong, damaged pedestals were sent. They were taken back, only for the second attempt to result in damaged pedestals again. Fred's sent a repair person to fix the damage, only for them to find out that the pedestals had been returned to the store. This lack of communication and coordination wasted both my time and the repair person's time.
After three failed attempts, the pedestals were finally delivered, but it was only during the fourth visit that we discovered a fundamental flaw â I couldn't close my laundry room doors with the dryer pedestal installed. This should have been identified and addressed during the initial visits, but Fred's proved to be utterly negligent in their attention to detail.
When I contacted the store seeking resolution, they promised financial compensation. However, over a month later, Fred's has failed to follow through on their commitment. It is clear that they only care about making a sale and have little regard for the inconvenience, frustration, and wasted time they inflict on their customers.
In summary, Fred's Appliance in Bozeman has demonstrated a shocking level of incompetence, poor communication, and a complete lack of customer care. I strongly advise potential customers to think twice before choosing Fred's. They may be friendly when taking your money, but when it comes to addressing issues and making things right, they fall severely short. ...The only thing good about my experience with Fred's was at least the delivery drivers/staff were friendly and helpful....
