Beware.
I should have waited the extra 1/2 hour and worked exclusively with Happy Happy (MW great salesperson). Instead Stanley "helped" me by up-selling me on a group suit deal for my 6 groomsmen and father-in-law. In return for guaranteeing them 8 suit sales, I got literally nothing in return.
A) I was promised that Stanley would personally follow up with and stay on top of all the groomsmen to make sure they got their suits in time. --First of all, I, let alone my groomsmen, received ZERO UPDATES. For my fitting follow-up and finished product. Both times I've had to guess when my suit is ready and just who up to find out. When I call to see if things are ready it's obvious that my call is inconvenient and no one ever knows what's going on?
Example, "who in my groomsmen party has already been fitted for their suits? How many have already picked them up?" --- this question always confuses the salesperson, no matter who it is. I never get a straight answer and if anyone goes to a different MW location to get their suit, it's chaos. You'd think their stores would communicate easily...but no. Instead of logging accurate information, they just try to sell you a belt.
B) I was sold on a "deal" for $299 per suit! AKA...$500 at least. And if your groomsmen are tall or fat then they secretly get charged more. And THEY WILL TRY TO UPSELL YOU ON EVERYTHING!!! It's theft! if you don't pay attention, they will stack your bill.
C) I have been there for multiple suits for multiple weddings and have been referred there. The referral source never gets credit, I'm never in their system (even though I've gone to the same store for every suit in the last 15 years) and they never ever ever ever give a discount.
D) My father in law had been fitted and they called to tell him his suit was ready. When he showed up, they COULDN'T FIND IT! After an attempt of "come back tomorrow, we'll figure it out..." my mother in law had to protest and refuse to leave until they found it. Guess what...they found it. I mean what is that? Did they lie at first? Could they really not find it? give me a break.
E) My wedding has been postponed due to the current corvid crisis.... but all of these issues existed long before it got this way. I'm trying to have an impromptu wedding ceremony and several of my groomsmen don't have their suits. The stores are closed...but before they closed, no one was update on the timeline. It would have been nice to confirm with all the customers whose suits were being tailored to pick them up before a certain date.
Again, most of this comes down to poor communication. I was promised many things that weren't delivered. I have remained loyal enough to Brentwood's MW location in hopes to receive great deals. But for my wedding, as the groom with the customized suit, nothing has been special.
Lastly. After ALL of this. Stanley called my brother-in-laws number trying to reach me. I gave him my cell phone number on multiple occasions and have submitted the same number for many suit orders in the last few years.
I would like to say that Happy Happy is still pleasant and always eager to please. However, the people working at the store don't seem to communicate to each other very well and it must be competitive commission because no one there will help you unless you get angry or impatient. I already bought my suit...help me! Help the customer who already gave you $500. If it's "in the back"...GO GET IT!
I hope when they re-open that my groomsmen will get the calls they were promised and I receive an update...
Read moreThis was one of the most frustrating pre-wedding experiences I have had so far.
We show up to the store and are greeted by an associate, so far so good. We ask about wedding options and are told that there are 3 different possibilities. We can rent, buy off-the-rack, or buy custom. I ask about the differences between the three and immediately another associate comes over and the two of them proceed to speed-talk over each other to "explain" the differences. I ask if each category is written down somewhere for easy comparison and am told that no, there is no document or spreadsheet. So I ask again and start taking notes as they again speed-talk over each other. After about 20 minutes of me asking questions and confirming information, I have a general idea of what the prices are. We then get to the measurement part which actually goes super smoothly, although I'm not told what my measurements are, nor are they written down, but I'm informed that my associate "never forgets or gets it wrong".
My fiancee tells him the look that we are going for and he proceeds to tell us that he doesn't have a plain white collared shirt for me to try but gives me a silkish pirate shirt to imitate the look (it absolutely did not). As we are trying on various jackets, we are still trying to nail down what the prices are- we were quoted $250 for suit rental but then told that it included shoes, but not certain shoes- that it included ties, but not bow-ties, but yes bow-ties, but not those bow-ties.
Our repeated attempts to see any sort of spreadsheet or written document with this explained was hand-waved away as not necessary. This went on for 2 HOURS until finally we had a coat that we think we liked, and an idea about the rest of the outfit (although difficult because I looked like a terrible Orlando Bloom knockoff under the jacket). As we told him our information at checkout we were assured that he would enter my measurements and send me a link to the clothes we tried on and liked as well as a link for my groomsmen. He seemed mildly perturbed that we weren't going to immediately drop $1200 on suits after that visit but that wasn't a big deal. At this point the experience was a 3/5.
After 2 days I realized that the information I was promised was never going to appear. So I went on the website and re-made the outfit using their UI (which was EXACTLY what I had asked about in the visit regarding spreadsheets for different styles/accessories). Shockingly, that outfit came in at $60 LESS than what we were quoted in-store and included all the accessories we were told were a la carte. And yes, I made sure the brands and style of jacket matched what I tried in the store. We then went back to the store to see what my measurements were and to try on the outfit that I had created online.
We were greeted by a different associate who was clearly not able to find the account that obviously hadn't been made by the first guy but told us that, despite no information regarding measurements, outfits, or even the date of the wedding, our initial associate had put down that we wanted custom suits. And thus began the second attempt at upselling us. This time our patience finally ran out and we left the store, never to return.
In conclusion, this place seems like a shady, incompetent operation designed to confuse the customer into purchasing...
Read moreBought and tailored a plain black suit for an upcoming wedding. When I went to pick it up, they had the wrong jacket and pants, which also didnât even match each other (pants had a stripe on them and were for a tuxedo, jacket was plain and small and for a suit). They insisted it was correct, until they realized they organized my suit incorrectly and gave me the wrong jacket and pants. They then said they couldnât find my original pants, so they brought over two different ones and asked me which one I thought matched the best, since they couldnât find matching pants. This was concerning, since I paid almost $500 for a suit, and I am now getting a non matching suit and they are leaving the professional decisions up to the customer. They are supposed to be the suit experts, not me. I said that I am not going to accept paying this much money for a non matching suit, so they decided to go back in the store and look for again. They came back out with pants that they said were supposed to be mine, they were just misplaced. However, both the jacket and pants were not tailored (we did all the measurements and the tailor marked up my jacket and pants when I originally went in the store, and paid for this to be tailored). So, the tailor came back out, marked up my jacket and pants again, then they asked me to pay for the adjustments. I already paid for the adjustments, they were never made! They finally agreed to alter the suit as originally intended and paid. Meanwhile, the entire time I was in the store, one of the ladyâs working stared unpleasantly at me the entire time. I smiled and waved on my way out, and she eyeballed me up and down. What was that for? Anyways, the time before the wedding was now cutting close since they messed up and never made the original alterations. They ended up never calling or emailing that itâs ready and I didnât receive the suit before the wedding. Complete failure and joke of a business. Horrible customer...
