I typically avoid complaints, especially given my retail background and understanding of its challenges. However, this recent interaction during our shopping visit last Thursday left both me and my partner with a less-than-positive experience. We were exploring outfits for Black Friday, intending to make online purchases. Being in-store was to gather opinions and assess the fit first hand, but the encounter fell short of our expectations. As we gathered what items we liked, we noticed an outfit on a mannequin that caught our interest. Unfortunately, his size wasn't available on the racks. I observed that the mannequin was wearing his size and asked the associate if we could try it on. Initially, she checked the backroom for additional sizes, then returned, inquiring if we were committed to purchasing the item. We both nodded and expressed our intent was to purchase if the fit was satisfactory. The associate (claiming this was protocal) advised us to either try a different size or order online if immediate availability wasn't essential. We clarified that our goal was to assess the fit before deciding. However, she hesitated to remove the outfit saying she wasn't keen on taking it off unless we were 100% buying it, claiming it'd be a hassle. My boyfriend then mentioned he only tries mediums because that is his size and she then laughed, but didn't budge. I reiterated that the main reason we wanted to try it was to check the fit and comfort pf the outfit in that size. Finally, she agreed and took the shirt off. She looked very annoyed and being in retail, i understand its not always easy, so I offered to help her put the mannequin back together. She told me she was good and had it all taken care of. We ended up buying the shirt in the end, but decided against asking for any further assistance. We even spotted another shirt we liked before checking out, but the last of his size was again attached to a mannequin, and we opted to leave without it to avoid a repeat of the situation. It was just very dissapointing to recieve such service. People shouldnt be left feeling like a "bother" to the people who work there. All we wanted to do was try the shirt on and see how it fit. And if we hadn't had such an uncomfortable interaction, we probabaly wouldve taken the other shirt we saw home with us. Very...
Read moreI came to the Express at Bridgewater Mall and the whole experience was disappointing. My mom has an Express account (and even a credit card with them), so at checkout I entered her phone number, the same one I had just used seconds earlier on my screen. Suddenly the cashier says there’s “no account.” Instead of asking if there were multiple accounts linked to that number (which there were; three, actually), she just dismissed it completely, instead of asking.
When I politely asked for clarification, the manager butted in with the rudest, most condescending tone, saying: “Meaning there is no account, is that your phone number or your mom’s?” The way he said it was nasty and unnecessary, especially when it turned out the account was there the whole time. It was their mistake, not ours.
On top of that, when I first walked into the store, this same manager stared me down for several seconds making me super uncomfortable. No smile, no greeting, just judgmental energy. Combined with his attitude at checkout, it made the whole shopping trip uncomfortable.
The only positive was the employee who actually helped me with my purchase, he was patient and kind. But overall, this location has a serious issue with rudeness from management and staff. It makes customers feel unwelcome, and it’s not the first time I’ve...
Read moreOkay so I cannot 'express' how amazing my shopping experiences have been at Express lately since I met Greg. First time I met him I had lost a lot of weight and told him I needed a new wardrobe but wasn't sure what my size was. He let me peruse the store without hovering and as my arms got full he'd walk over to offer to put the clothes into the fitting room. Him and I began making conversation about what I needed and ended up walking out of the store happy and feeling confident that I some pillars for my wardrobe and statement pieces also.
As months passed I'd go into Express, told him that I needed an outfit for an interview, a dinner date, rooftop brunch and he knew Express's line so well; he'd knew exactly what would look amazing w my body type. Each event he dressed me for I felt confident w the clothes I had on; and that's what it's all about. Taking pride in your appearance.
Today, I brought a friend to Express who lives out of town and was unexpectedly staying longer in town for work; and needed jeans. I went to the store and Greg was very attentive with his likes and dislikes. I definitely refer my friends to ask for Greg when you shop at the Bridgewater location bc he truly takes the shopping experience to...
