On January 26th, 2019 I took several items of jewelry into the Brookfield Jared to be inspected and cleaned. Among the items were my engagement ring, wedding ring, a necklace, and a pair of earrings. The associate who assisted me was an older woman named Jenny. Not only was she unprofessional, but she was also incompetent. The warranty for both rings includes rhodium plating along with the inspection and cleaning. However, this associate was going to skip the entire process and simply give me back the rings after inspection. It wasn't until I requested the rhodium that she initiated the process, making me feel as though I was being pushy. She then proceeded to take an abnormal amount of time filling out the forms on the tablet and having a conversation with a coworker as if I was not standing there waiting. In the conversation, the coworker tried to explain why the new forms were necessary and that it allowed the customers to feel more secure. The associate, Jenny, responded with an attitude saying, "how much more secure do they need to feel?" The coworker at least had the good sense to cut her off and remind her that I was there and waiting. From there it only got worse. Jenny proceeded to inspect and clean the earrings and necklace which were a gift from my husband for our first wedding anniversary in September 2018. The earrings were very delicate and during the process of inspecting and cleaning, this awful associate managed to crush and mangle my beautiful earrings. I didn't realize this at first as she was absolutely awful and I was eager to leave. However, I noticed after leaving and was devastated. I immediately drove back to Jared to show the damage and request a repair. By this time the terrible associate had already left. The manager apologized and immediately replaced the damaged earrings in an attempt to please me and what felt like rush me out of the store. While another associate logged the numbers for the new earrings into my account, the manager proceeded to apologize for her employee, make excuses for the mistake, and lecture me on being careful with the earrings due to how delicate they are. This upset me quite a bit as I felt she was shifting the blame onto me instead of owning that her employee messed up. I've had the earrings for 5 months with no issues, she had them for 5 minutes and destroyed them. I left the store feeling angry and unheard. Later, the more I thought about it, the more upset I became as now I no longer have the actual earrings my husband gave me. All I have are replacement earrings with no sentimental value and the sight of them no longer makes me happy but feel angry, sad, and...
Read moreMy fiancé and I visited this store over a month ago to begin our search for an engagement ring. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an associate, who appeared to be in her mid-50s with dark hair and glasses. While we initially felt welcomed, our experience quickly took a troubling turn. As we were having our ring sizes taken, her and another associate began making unsolicited remarks about my fiancé’s hand, repeatedly referring to it as “so tiny.” Even though this was an attempt at humor, the constant repetition of the comment felt inappropriate and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, when it was my turn to have my finger sized, another comment was made, this time saying, “Oh, he’s a big boy!” We were both surprised by the comment and made us both equally uncomfortable. The nature of these remarks was unprofessional and undermined what should have been an exciting, memorable experience for us. As a result of this poor interaction, we made the decision to leave and visit a different Jared location, where my friend’s mom works. Had we not had that connection, we would have walked away from Jared entirely. We ultimately had the ring shipped from the second location to the Brookfield store for pickup. When I went to collect the ring, the same associate was present. As soon as I mentioned where I had made the purchase, her entire demeanor shifted. It was clear that she no longer wanted to speak with me, and I felt a distinct sense of dismissal. This behavior is not only unacceptable but also shows a disregard for customer service. It was evident that her attitude was driven by the fact that we had not made the purchase with her. This is unfortunate because we were hoping to be able to come to this location for the 6-month checkup and regular cleanings but now feel that we cannot do that out of fear of being treated poorly. If buying an engagement ring or any jewelry in the Brookfield area, I would recommend going to...
Read moreThe people with whom we've interacted at this Jared location have all been very kind and helpful and not at all pushy. When searching for a jeweler to produce our custom engagement ring we spoke with many jewelers but when we met Michelle (the store manager at this Jared location), she gave us confidence in Jared's technical ability to produce what we desired and her perseverance to make sure we ended up with something stunning that we would love even though the ring we wanted was unlike anything that they had available in the store or online. Though there were a number of iterations in the design of the ring to finally reach the end result that I was happy with, Michelle was patient in working with me and the modeler to ultimately achieve a beautiful ring that my wife loves! It is a vintage looking ring with many unique design elements and was made in a nickel-free white gold to avoid allergic reactions. The diamond selection process was enjoyable with Michelle's help as they are able to show the specific diamonds from their online source and bring in a number of diamonds if necessary to compare. This made the selection process much easier for me as I could see the one I wanted first-hand before the ring was designed around its dimensions. And now that the ring is completed, I am happy that we can still go right back to Jared and have them verify it's condition so we can maintain its warranty for life! It gave my wife and I more confidence knowing that in addition to the kindness that Michelle showed us both, she also has been working at (and managing) Jared for many years, so we felt there was a good chance that she would continue to be our jeweler for years to come. I would certainly recommend this store to anyone looking for a helpful jeweler that will put great effort into finding (or making) something that...
