As someone from the public who accidentally clicked the wrong thing on the map and realized this when immediately looking at the reviews, I want to say in reference to the comments in what is currently the most recent review, that going to a cultural center and then leaving a nasty review because on a sacred religious day being observed at said cultural center they were not running a public service station, or police station (two of the place that should have been called by someone who felt they were in danger or needed help according to the review which sounded a bit weak in regards to specifics), is ridiculous and comes across as an attempt to smear an ethnic community. A little cultural awareness/respect and some common sense go a long way. Orthodox Jews on Saturday adhere to a specific code of conduct as part of the ritual day of rest. There's also an aspect of an outsider coming in with an attitude and expecting the attendees to put their guard down when they are too often targeted. Jews as a general cultural mentality exercise tikkun olam, which is the mentality of helping heal the hurts in the world, hence so many doctors and Nobel laureates, and a lot of people with empathy due to what they've generational gone through. Every group of humans has a bad apple somewhere, but these are good people. Next time if in danger call for help from the police. I don't think the Chabad would've prohibited you from using...
Read moreNot friendly to visitors one bit, to the point of being hostile. Two people manged to produce a smile, 2 more to talk. The rest behaved like I didn't exist. Rabbi rushed everyone out of the building minutes after the service ended. When I asked for help, rabbi and some men with him ignored me, and the one who unwillingly talked to me only said "we can't, it's shabbat. Good luck" and just took off, leaving me standing there helpless and lost in the dark in the middle of nowhere (they knew I was visiting from a different country, hence clueless where else to go). Thank God for the lady who suggested some ideas where I could find help, otherwise this could turn into a potentially dangerous situation. Not cool guys, absolutely not cool. Is that what Torah tells about how Abraham, Lot, Rebekah etc. treated...
Read moreThey are the BEST. We cannot thank them enough. We fled from Florida from hurricane Irma, after 20 hours of driving in a heavy traffic we couldn't find any vacant hotel room. We are a family with a child , they already had rooms filled with refuges from the Hurricane, Rabbi Mandy cleared his office for us, and let us move in, they bought mattresses and blankets, they literally saved us from sleeping in the car and made us feel at home. They...
