Hands down the best breakfast and brunch in Atlanta for the price! I love a good diner, and Goldbergs delivers every single time. It’s light years ahead of J Christopher’s, White Hall, First Watch, you game it. Now you won’t get a fancy coffee or Instagram able photo, but you’ll get solid food. I’ve been eating here for years and genuinely crave it about every three weeks…it’s that good. You really can’t go wrong. Portions are generous especially for the price, service is consistently solid (though wait times can vary, it’s popular!), and with so many locations you can usually find one nearby. They’re also great about modifying cooking oils for those of us who prefer olive oil or other healthier options. My go-to is an omelette or the nova scramble, with home fries — big, crispy potato chunks with sautéed peppers and onions — plus a side of toast, English muffin, or bagel (or swap for salad or fruit). My husband swears by their latkes, too. Classic, satisfying, and a total win for brunch lovers.

I’ve been a longtime (more than 20 years) customer of GOLDBERGS and have loved their food and service until today. I ordered my usual grilled chicken deli classic sandwich to-go along with their lox bagel. To my surprise when I got my food home I noticed how thin the chicken was in my sandwich. Literally they sliced a chicken breast in half if not into thirds and placed it in my sandwich. It was the saddest excuse for a $13.99 sandwich. Chicken is rather inexpensive yet this goes beyond cost cutting. It honestly was a waste of money. I literally threw away a 3rd of the sandwich as it didn't have enough chicken in it. Mind you, I've gotten this same sandwich from chamblee location, the original Roswell location, and the Buckhead site hundreds of times over my 20+ years patronizing this restaurant group. If this is the way this sandwich will continue to be made, you've now lost a very loyal customer. I understand rising costs, inflation yet come one GOLDBERGS, do better for your customers.

Best bagels you’ll find in the Chamblee/Dunwoody area (wouldn’t compare with New York though, so don’t try). Good coffee! The veggie omelette ($10.99), add cheese (+ $1.00), is my go-to. I get it with the potato latkes, which are perfectly crispy and served with applesauce, and a toasted everything bagel. The portions are huge, so I save half of the omelette and half of the bagel to take home for a wonderful breakfast the next day! My husband gets the 2 egg breakfast ($7.99) with a toasted everything bagel and a side of fries (+ $1.00). It always comes with way more than 2 eggs. He’s gotten the bacon before and said it’s okay. We’ve also gotten their Reubens, which are actually really delicious. My friend got the mushroom barley soup and said it was good! For Atlanta, there are better breakfast places. But for this area, it’s a really great option. Definitely recommend!

I would give this place zero stars. The first woman I spoke to when I called to place an order was the first red flag! I ordered pancakes and I asked her if they offer fried chicken and pancakes like the chicken and waffles . She replied “No”. I then asked if I could order a side of fried chicken with the pancakes and She said yes, but it would be fried chicken breast rather than wings. I’m not sure where she was confused at but when I asked if about the wings she handed the phone to someone else and I had to repeat my order. I finally placed my order and headed to pick it up. Once I paid for my food, the cashier gave me my receipt. I said “thank you” she didn’t respond. I should have stop to check my order but once I got home I noticed they gave me grilled chicken. I look at the receipt and notice that I was charged for grilled chicken. I tried calling the store but no one picked up .I did not want grilled chicken with pancakes!! I had to head back to the to get my order corrected. I spoke to the cashier and told her there was a mistake with my order. I explained that I wanted fried chicken instead of grilled and she responded back with an attitude “you were rung up for the grilled chicken breast”. I responded that I didn’t ask for grilled chicken, I asked whoever took my order for fried chicken. She then grabbed the grilled chicken from my bag and walked off with an ATTITUDE. You would have thought I inconvenience her…There was no apology for my inconvenience because of a mistake that THEY made! After waiting, I had to stop another employee to ask how long would it be for the fried chicken and she couldn’t give me an answer. ATP I decided I wanted a full refund. I had to wait for a manager to come give me a refund and I gave her the food but she stated they can’t take food back. I was able to get my refund and still no apology. I did not appreciate my experience, especially since this was my first time at this restaurant I will NOT be...

We’ve stopped at Goldberg’s for breakfast a handful of times over the past 6 years, and the service is always good. Servers are always respectful and accommodating, even when times are busy.

The potato latkes are probably our favorite food to order here. Always perfect.

They’ve got a pretty exhaustive list of bagels and spreads, but I’ve noticed differences in quality each time we visit. Not a make or break, but consistency is always nice, considering they’re a chain. (There have been times where I’ve preferred bagels from Einstein’s Bros.) Everything else on the breakfast menu is usually a hit or a miss. I have never ordered from their lunch menu.

The following food reviews are from my last visit in Dec. 2021.

The waffle is way too dense, and tend to taste a bit eggy. I would compare them to the waffles at a hotel continental breakfast that you have to make yourself by pouring out the batter from a dispenser. Not worth the price you pay. The strawberry compote served along with it is pretty good, though it doesn’t make up for the waffle. If you’re in the mood for a satisfying waffle, I’d recommend hopping over to Waffle House a few doors down. (Say what you will about WAHO, their waffles slap.)

Challah French toast is a good choice, though it can also be a bit on the denser side — but that is expected with challah bread, I guess. Served with a small side of fruit.

I was a bit shocked to see that they charge $5 for a side of bacon. We got a plate with maybe 3-4 dry (not crispy) strips of shriveled bacon thrown on there. For that price I’d expect a handsome serving. Potato latkes are also 2 pieces for $5.

Overall, if you’re in the Exit 30, Chamblee-Dunwoody, Georgetown area of Dunwoody, itching for some breakfast/brunch, and you’ve got time on your hands to sit down, but not enough time to drive to another diner joint, this Goldberg’s will...

As a native of Atlanta, I started to go to Goldbergs with my parents at the age of 3 in the early 70's. It was always a treat for my sister and I growing up and they have delivered excellent food consistently over the decades. It has been and remains one of my favorite places to go for breakfast and lunch. I have spent most my time at the Roswell Rd and W Paces locations but was pleasantly surprised this morning going to the Chamblee Dunwoody location for the first time. It is a nice space with a larger dining room than the others it seems and the food was as excellent as ever but most importantly the service was truly exceptional. It is the little things that make a lasting impression when excellent service is delivered as Monica proved to me today. In buying the famous Goldbergs poor boy over 5 different decades I have never had it delivered to me exactly as I liked today after Monica went out of her way asking me questions on what I would like. Truly exceptional service. Robert was also incredibly kind and told me about all the new locations opening up around town and was generally extremely nice and courteous. Goldbergs has always had excellent service and better than other establishments but these two today showed me what truly exceptional service is and how one can leave a positive lasting impression on customers. Thank you for leaving me with a smile today as well as my favorite sandwich in the world done better than...
