[Time of visit]: Sunday Afternoon
[Location/Ambiance]: Sunday afternoons seems to bring more families as the big tables in the front were mostly taken by them and multiples of kids. The seats at the bar were wide open. And most people were doing to go orders, so there's plenty of seating in the back. slightly loud around the bar area. More quiet near Morrelli's ice cream. Some people are not familiar with the "Fast casual" trend of restaurants I believe. Pretty much, you order at a counter, given a number, and a food runner brings the food to your table. Everything else is self served. One exception at FB, is if you sit at the bar.
[Service]: There was a constant flow of customers lining up to order when we arrived, but with minimal wait time. I would say 6-7 mins at best as one bartender and another worker were both taking orders to move people quickly. I think with jotting notes on my note pad and using a mid range camera at the time, the bartender was very attentive on asking us if we were good. Guess I'm bringing the "Critic" vibe when I have both of those in hand. I timed the duration after we put in our orders until the food came out. Around less then 10 mins for two separate orders at the same time.
[Food Highlights]: #1 The Farm Burger w/ Bacon - Opted to cook medium. Perfectly pink on the inside due to resting as I was in-line again with another friend to order. Juicy on each bite, it's a good burger but missing some pizzazz. It kind of lingers but dies out right after you get done chewing. The bacon was crispy w/o being burnt. I believe the caramelized onions added to the burger's flavor, w/o overpowering the taste. Tenderly cooked with a slight hint of sweetness. Though the buns soaked up most of the juices from the combination of the burger and onions and became slightly soggy. This wouldn't go well for take out and driving a long distance after to eat. - Good
Rings n' Fries - The onions had a good consistency on the batter which has hints of beer you can taste, but it's very subtle. Each one had a crisp texture that leads to a slight sweetness on the back-end for the onions. The smoked paprika mayo goes well for dipping I think. Next up, fries were cooked well. Each were crispy though not overly deep fried. Though the fries were cooked very well, there wasn't any seasoning. I guess they leave up to patrons to add how much salt they want. Went better with ketchup. - Pretty good.
Chicken Pot Pie Fritters - Best way I can explain it, home made taste (not made for the masses). It's moist with juicy bits of chicken. What kills it for me was that it didn't have much seasoning in it though the exterior was very well cooked. Served with something similar to cocktail sauce, this didn't help it much either. - Pass
Mac + Cheese - I'm biased, as I favor my mac and cheese to be gooey with cheese. Keep that in mind. The cheese was pretty watery in this one and really lacking any flavor itself. Unless you stirred up the BBQ you weren't going to be tasting much. - Pass
Original Sin - Hard Cider - This was sweetness on the front end, followed by more dry on the back-end then I expected. I'm more of an Angry Orchard kind of cider fan. Not sure if this pairs well with fried food when you want something to wash all of it down. - OK.
{Summary}: Farm burger does burgers well, I just feel that it's missing that wow factor at the end of each bite. It's still a good burger. But I would hold off on putting them...
Read moreI discovered that not all Farm Burgers are similar. For the past few years, I've lived in another state. Every time I had to visit Atlanta, I would eat at the Farm Burger in downtown Atlanta. And every single time, it is flawless. Perfect. Delicious. Amazing. So two weeks ago I moved here to Atlanta. I was in the Dunwoody area and decided to try the Dunwoody Farm Burger location, expecting it to also be perfect. Sadly, at least in my opinion, this location was entirely different. I did not enjoy the food here at all. I found the chicken to be very chewy and fatty. I could not finish the chicken sandwich it tasted terrible to me. I thought, maybe it's just a bad batch of chicken, so I didn't even return the chicken or complain. Because of all my good experiences at the other location, I figured, who cares, one bad sandwich is not going to dampen my enthusiasm. So, I simply put the chicken aside and also ordered a cheeseburger. The cheeseburger was also gross in my opinion! To me, it tasted very full of gristle, chewy. I could not bring myself to finish it. I didn't complain, I just went out to my car, regurgitated some of it and spat it out. For me, it was the discovery that this location is very, very different than the other one. I don't know if they use the same suppliers, or different suppliers. Maybe it was just a bad day. Maybe it's just me. But I got the impression this location used much lower quality ingredients than the other place. Maybe they don't. Maybe it's all the same suppliers. But for me, the experience was not the high quality I have come to expect from Farmburger. I hope others have a better experience. But that was...
Read moreTo Whom It May Concern,
My husband and I, along with our daughters, have been long time loyal Farmburger customers. Other than the delicious food from local farms (which was our initial draw), we really enjoy seeing one of our favorite employees: Chappelle!!
Not only is it fantastic to see his familiar face through the years amongst frequent new employees, he has always stood out as one of the best. His customer service skills are outstanding, he’s very friendly, and it is obvious how much he cares about the restaurant and customers. He is always very aware of everything going on in the place, while keeping up with the busy workflow. My favorite recent memory of Chappelle is how he approached my husband and I a week or two ago as we were in line deciding on what we planned to order. Chappelle pointed out your new chicken breast sandwich options, which we had not noticed on the menu, and likely would not have without Chappelle’s guidance and suggestions. We eagerly took his advice to order these new options and we were blown away and now have been back three times since!!! (My husband loves the “Nashville Hot” and I love the “Atlanta Lemon Pepper Wet”.)
Chapelle consistently goes above and beyond and he is by far the Dunwoody location’s best employee and our favorite!!! I teased him tonight that he needs to get a commission for every chicken sandwich sold-hahaha! Hopefully, he will at least be given a shout out by higher ups, in addition to our routine thanks and accolades...
