This place opened recently, I believe it was less than a month when I went. I met some ladies for dinner. We sat outside on their patio because the inside was too loud, crowded and hot due to the cooking. It was hot outside too, but thankfully they have fans that are going to keep you cool.
I believe since they are a new location, some of the service is not 100%. We witnessed a server’s tray of nachos accidentally get hit by a kids hand. But it wasn’t the servers fault. They were a little slow at brining things and the silliest part of their menu was the “nachos and salsa”. The salsas are already on the table, which don’t have much in the containers, and the nachos took forever to come out. But the price for just nachos seemed a little much, especially with the quantity you get. Now we didn’t ask for more, so maybe they would refill it but I doubt it.
I ordered 2 tacos: the ribeye and Baja fish. Both tasted really good, but the filling was pretty light. Not filling at all and I am pretty small, usually 2-3 tacos fill me up. I felt like I would have needed to order about another taco and maybe an appetizer.
Our waitress was okay, she made some of the people in our party feel like she didn’t hear them. I would have recommended that she repeated the order when so many questions are asked. Someone in our group asked for no cilantro and she “wrote it down”, but still came with cilantro and had to send it back.
When you pay, the waitress hold the machine while you pay. I don’t really like that. Hand it to me and let me make my decisions versus showcasing it for the group. And their tip automatically starts at 20% or maybe higher. And goes to 35%, but you can customize it is you want. I selected the option of printing my receipt but she never brought it to me.
Everything was pretty average, nothing I would come out for again since this wasn’t close by. But if you live around the area it worth giving it a shot. Hope you have a...
Read moreCame here for their opening day and Wahaka did not disappoint! Plenty of parking, very welcoming team there to greet you as soon as you walk up. I was quickly seated and grabbed a table on the patio. The waitress I had was great and service was SO FAST! Seriously, within 10 minutes of walking up, I had my drink and tacos. I tried the trompo al pastor, the ribeye con papas, lengua, and chicharron de carnitas with a passion fruit margarita. Passion fruit margarita was great! Flavor was just right, not too strong, not weak at all..JUST RIGHT! Love the chia seeds in it too. For the tacos, all of them were delicious but the standout was the ribeye con papas! So nice I had to order it twice! It’s literally a 10/10 for me. The others were outstanding and definitely some of the best tacos I’ve had! The Al pastor was cooked to perfection with the perfect flavor and texture. The lengua comes as a whole piece, just a heads up. It was really good just not my favorite out of the ones I tried. The chicharron carnitas had that perfect crunch to chewy ratio, it was piping hot and greasy just the way I like it! Loved the habanero salsa the most out of all of them. The tortillas were done right! Fresh and cooked to a slight crisp just enough to hold everything without falling apart without being too tough. My only gripe was I wish I’d had more cilantro which I’m sure I could have asked for more, just didn’t want to be a bother. For six tacos and a drink plus tip ran me about $50 which is more on the pricier side but everything was phenomenal, so fresh and you can tell each component of the food and menu was well thought out! I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu! Try...
Read moreBefore i lay me down to sleep, i didn’t want to forget to give this new establishment its props! I sped here after work after a co-worker had told me about it. I work in hotels in dunwoody so it’s important for me to always have a good list of restaurant recommendations for our guests. It took a lot for me to visit this spot solo, and i didn’t regret it. Staff was super attentive, always checking in, and sharing complimentary things for us to taste. The ambience seems so true to its cultural context. The architecture really feels like a restaurant that you might find in CDMX. It’s spacious with ample seating but also manages to be intimate at the same time. Plenty of FREE PARKING (i just hope it stays that way) Considering what they were offering, they seemed to manage the crowd and demand very well. The hosts left the best impression, they were so energetic which made me feel at home and welcome. This was a step in the dark for me as I’m not of a hispanic background, and i actually don’t spend much time exploring Mexican food. But this place has sparked a new curiosity in me and i hope i can become a regular here. The only thing that would made this place perfect is an outdoor waiting area with a bar while guests wait to be sat because i can already tell this place will continue...
