My first experience ordering the dress was a great time and the stylist was super friendly and helpful; the manager at this location is also very kind, helpful, and very sweet, however it's all been downhill from that first appointment and no one seemed to know what was going on.
First off, they ordered the incorrect dress. I ordered one with sleeves, and they ordered the dress without sleeves. I went back down there the next morning to find out how we could fix this and they said that they would put sleeves on the dress for me, cover the alterations, and they set me up with an alterations appointment for the next weekend because it would "take a couple weeks" and they "want to make things right." They then charged me for alterations (a hem and bustle) "because they would have needed to be done anyway" which I can understand, but isn't an excellent customer service policy. I was then told it would take them a month to do my alterations and that my dress would now be ready about 3 weeks before my wedding. I explained that this wasn't enough time and they told me it would be done on the 28th of February, but to come down the weekend before to try on the sleeves. I ended up getting sick that weekend, but called to let them know I could still come down the weekend of the 28th, and to see what progress they had made. I told them if they hadn't already they could go ahead and do the hem and bustle as I had already approved the work and had it pinned on me so we could stay as close to the new pickup date as possible, but when I arrived to try it on again with the sleeves they hadn't done any other work to it. I was then told to pick it up on the 7th of March.
I called on the 4th to let them know I would be there in the afternoon on the 7th and they said it wouldn't be ready then, but would be ready on the 14th, with no explanation of why the date was moved and no indication they were going to let me know that the date had been changed. My fiance then called to find out why the date has been moved, and the manager (who was actually very helpful) said she had corrected the date and that it would be ready this weekend. However because of all this confusion with dates I had to start looking at ready to wear gowns from other stores, and I had to cancel my bridal shower day of in order to start doing so. If they had told me at the beginning that the alterations would take a month and I would have to go through all this stress and anxiety with changing dates and getting different answers from every person I spoke to I would have just returned the dress then and saved myself the trouble.
I also have to say after picking up the dress that the alterations weren't great. Very large stitches and lots of loose threads on the sleeves so they clearly didn't actually spend a lot of time on the dress or put very much care into the work, I'm tired of dealing with this place so I'll just be refinishing the edges of my sleeves at home now so they don't look like they might come undone at any moment. The hem was also a little shorter than we had originally pinned but not by much so it'll have to do since I don't have weeks to wait for more alterations. Wouldn't buy anything from here ever again, and definitely would not have clothing altered here. Avoid at all costs unless you can exclusively deal with their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery disappointed in my recent experience at the Glen Burnie location. I have purchased multiple bridesmaids dresses, and my own wedding dress, from this David's Bridal location in the past and never had an issue.
Before going to an appointment to find a bridesmaid's dress, I tried on the most recent bridesmaid dress I had purchased at David's Bridal. It fit well, and I intended to get the same size again. I have never needed any alterations to dresses from this store before.
At my appointment, I tried on dresses in the size that I knew fit me. When it came time to buy my dress, the staff member helping us told me that I could not order the dress in the size that I had been trying on because "the dresses available to try on in the store are not true to size because they are stretched out from being tried on". I explained that I had just tried on a dress from David's in the same size at my house that morning, and I wanted to purchase that size so that I would not have to pay for alterations. She told me that I needed to size up and if I ordered the size I wanted the dress would not fit.
When I went to pay, I asked the person at the register to change the size and she said she had to go with what the other staff member had listed. Then, I was told that the dress was new and needed different measurements, and was measured in front of the entire check out line and my measurements were yelled out from the person measuring me to the person at the register. This was incredibly embarrassing.
I left feeling frustrated by the whole experience, embarrassed that my measurements were announced to an entire store full of people, and anxious that I would need to spend additional time and money on alterations upon receiving the dress.
My dress has now arrived, and does not fit. It is too large. Now I will have to pay for alterations, which would not have been necessary if I had be allowed to order the size that I requested. I hope that the staff will listen to customers in the future, and that I will never need to shop there again.
Update: I was offered a free alterations appointment after posting this review. However, I canceled it and found somewhere else to alter my dress after hearing about the experience of the bride whose wedding I'm in. She has been back to David's multiple times for alterations and has now spent more on alterations than her wedding dress cost. Her dress does not fit properly and she gets...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came to Daveās Bridle at the last minute in hopes to find a dress for my courthouse wedding! I was in panic mode! After trying on several dresses I finally found the dress that I deemed perfect! I was happy, super excited. The dresses I tried on was a size 12 so it did not quite fit. Back to panic mode. The stylist at Daveās Bridle put in an order for a size 16 but then they said it would not ship until June! Then we decided to go for a size 14, I wasnāt too sure but time was of the essence. They said if they order the size 14 it would be in Feb 19th no later than the 20th! That was perfect considering my court date wedding was Feb 27th! Yes I know! So I said letās give it a try! I said to myself Iām not eating any carbs or sugar and with that and prayer, everything will workout! The dress came in and I tried it on! Yall, when I tell you it was perfect! š the size 16 wouldāve been too big I think! A new dress and no alterations and I can fit it! I was winning) now all I needed was to get it cleaned and pressed! I was supposed to have called to schedule my appt for that on Friday! Missed it and Alterations was not open on the weekend but I still was a able to schedule an appt for Monday the 24th! Stay with me yāall! It was no guarantee that this was possible but Iād rather try then not! I came in on Monday they took me back, I tried on the dress again and it fit better than it did the first time I tried it on š but there was a problem! The dress was in fact too long because every time I took a step I had to pull the dress out the way! The seamstress ask if I wanted hemmed and a bustle in the back so my dress would not get dirty! Hesitant at first because money and time was of the essence but God already worked it out! I paid to get my dresses hemmed with the bustle, cleaned and pressed and was able to pick it up the next day with a rush fee added! Listen and excuse my French but I didnāt give a damn! lol I just wanted it to be nice! Altogether I paid less than $1,000 for everything, Farmer bag included lol and I owe it all to ShonTosha, Diane, Tasha, and Aster! I appreciate you all for making my day a special one considering! I can say we really work well under pressure! Love you ladies to the moon and...
