I'm not normally a Macy's kind of gal due to the prices being out of my usual budget, but I went there with my boyfriend to check out their fragrances and was NOT disappointed. They had a great selection and a wide range of sizes were offered (from full size all the way to travel/gift size), and you don't have to worry about whether you're purchasing fakes or not. The staff they have for the fragrance sections are absolute dolls and made the experience wonderful.
The fragrance experts are VERY knowledgeable about the fragrances there, how skin chemistry impacts each scent, and are always eager to get you something you wanted or something that they think may interest you based on what you tell them. They are clearly very passionate about fragrances and allowed you the time and space to explore whatever you'd like.
My boyfriend fell in LOVE with a Gucci fragrance for the first time in his life while he was searching for Issey Miyake because the lady in the male fragrance section introduced it to him.
I was enamored by the Dolce & Gabbana section, was given the opportunity to smell them on the fragrance papers, and was encouraged to spray them on myself as well to be sure that I would like how it'd develop on my skin. The expert was also very open about which ones she did and didn't prefer on herself, allowed me to smell it on her, and would smell what I sprayed on myself. She was extremely friendly, engaging, funny and honest~!
As someone who suffers from anxiety, I was put at ease immediately upon being greeted and the interactions that proceeded afterwards. I could tell they were less concerned with getting me to pull on my wallet and were instead passionate about helping me find a fragrance to fall in love with. I truly appreciate their passion, kindness and authenticity.
The staff also seemed to be close knit and worked well together which is always nice to see. They talked to us again as we were leaving to see which fragrances we ended up and to give us tips for longevity. It felt like you were leaving a family reunion and getting caught by your aunts on the way out (in a positive way, of course LOL).
I purchased Dolce & Gabbana Q (the red bottle; scent profile candied cherry, jasmine, vanilla) in a 100ml bottle. Originally, I was going to buy the smaller bottle, but was gently made aware of potential savings. After being allowed time to think on it, I opened an AMEX Macy's card and was about to purchase this this 100ml bottle (originally $184) for $147 after savings. I literally would never usually do that... but I couldn't pass that up, plus I will be able to use this card anywhere and no fee. Little credit booster for me LOL. (Side note: the 1.7 oz was $147! So you can see why I couldn't pass up on getting the bigger size instead for that price~!!)
Along with my purchase, I was given a Dolce & Gabbana beauty bag as gift, a travel sized version of the Q, and 3 samples! One was a Dolce & Gabbana scent that I missed and she wanted me to be able to smell that one and the other was a surprise Gucci scent that another member thought I would like.
My boyfriend also received a great goody bag gift like me with his Gucci Guilty fragrance.
We left the store feeling extremely happy with everything. No regrets at all-- and I'm a cheapskate who barely indulges in expensive things like this so that's saying a lot. We also could not get over how sweet everyone was.
Our visit was on April 14th, 2025 and we still think about what a great experience that was and we will travel back out there someday for our future fragrance hunting endeavor. Thank you to the staff for such a fantastic experience and for easing me into the world of...
Read moreThis store is a mixed bag. I find it very hit-or-miss when it comes to what I am looking for. Sometimes I've come here and found absolutely nothing, other times I find too much. I had been looking for a new winter coat for years, and I checked this store I think two years in a row and found nothing, but then the third year I found two excellent coats on clearance. In the past, I bought a great pair of gloves here that was cheap and lasted a long time, but this year their gloves were extraordinarily overpriced. But I got a good deal on towels.
Why is my rating so low? I have two big complaints.
One is the inconsistency. I hate how much this store changes from year to year. Like...if I buy something, I want to be able to come back and buy it again. But I can't. I come back and it's like, I know I'm probably never going to see the thing or anything like it again, but if I do, it may crop up 3, 5, or 7 years later. I hate that. It's not fun, it's destabilizing. It doesn't make me excited, it makes me angry and sad.
Two is that I really dislike the layout of the store. I find it confusing. It is very hard to find your way around and I find I waste a lot of time walking through sections of stuff I am not interested in, looking for stuff I am. Also, some of the same items are in multiple places in the store, which I find needlessly confusing. I always hate that. It probably takes me 2 hours to do what would take 45 minutes in a normal store. I came here recently with my girlfriend and, while we eventually found some good stuff, it took us so long that we stayed till mall close time (8PM, too early, another thing that bothers me) and then we couldn't get the things we wanted from other stores. The layout here is rude and disrespectful to the customers, it sends the message to me that my time is not valuable.
The staff here are always really nice and helpful though and I appreciate that. Lately, this store has seemed slightly understaffed, but this is a nationwide problem these days, and this store is actually not as bad as other stores on this count.
Overall I will continue to shop here, but I wish they could address the inconsistency and absolutely horrid layout. This place will always be 3 stars in my mind until they can do those things. Addressing one will bump my review up one star, both will get it...
Read moreI had the worst experience with this store! I ordered a Tommy Hilfiger coat online, unfortunately it was the wrong size. I came in the store literally the same week I received the coat to exchange it for another size. When approaching the counter the guy at the register was helping someone already, so another guy decided to assist me. He asked how he could help me, I told him what I needed and his first words were to go find the coat myself for the exchange. He then stopped himself mid sentence and said “let me check in the computer before you go over there” when he looked in the system( I was standing next to him so I did see the computer as well) there was no more in the store. He then suggested he could send it to my house if he ordered it for me, now because I have already paid for this coat I’m not expecting what’s coming next. He tells me I have to pay again for a coat I have already paid for, THE FULL PRICE!!!!!! So I very nicely declined that suggestion, because that didn’t make sense to me. He then laughs, LITERALLY LAUGH and says well I can refund it before you buying it again. So I ask him if there were any in PA I’d rather do this somewhere else where the customer representatives aren’t rude. After him showing me in the computer system where I could exchange, he says very sarcastically “OH IM SORRY YOU HAVE TO TRAVEL SO FAR”! I said “oh that’s fine” with a smile. Before me leaving he says “do you want me to close up your box”, I okayed it. After him closing it, he slides the box towards me with box hands on the box keeping them there, like he was waiting for me to touch him or something. I am so disgusting with this! I’m not sure if this was a racial issue or this guy just wasn’t having a good day whatever the issue it was disgusting and very rude! After this coat I will no longer do business...
