We were looking for someone who could give us an idea about the cost for refinishing and making a new cushion for an antique maple barrel chair. The chair was older and had faded badly, had quite a few areas where the wood was separating, and the cushion was ruined. After calling a few places, I was surprised at how few would even talk to me, much less give me a quote. When I found Northrop Restorations, I sent an an email with the photos of the chair and MJ got back to me within a few hours, asked a few questions, told us some good sources for upholstery fabric, and gave me a quote for the work. We weren't in a rush so we scheduled it to drop off a few weeks later.

Within a short amount of time, we received an email with a photo showing the finished chair. The chair looked incredible with a new finish and you can't tell where the wood was separating. She redid the webbing and added braces to the original wood structure so now the chair is even more solid than it was when new. The new cushion fit perfectly and even includes a hidden zipper so the foam can be removed and the cover can be washed.

I recommend Northrop Restorations without hesitation. The service and quality of work cannot be matched. We had two pieced that needed from TLC and Northrop's did an AMAZING job.

The first one was an antique Heywood Wakefield dining set (pictured). We have cats, dogs, and kids running around so we decided to have it refinished, leave the wood natural, and add a clear coat to protect it. We also had all of the chairs re-upholstered with Sunbrella fabric and it looks nearly identical to the original fabric and is so easy to clean (you can even bleach it).

The second is an old filing cabinet that came to us via a thrift shop that we use as a credenza for our entryway. It was pretty beat up from wear, age, etc. Northrop's did an amazing job cleaning it up (the brass handles too) and refinishing/restoring the top. It doesn't even look like the same piece of furniture.

I grew up with this dining room table, and inherited it after my dad and mom passed. It was in desperate need of refinishing, cleaning, and repair (the extensions no longer fit flush together due to old bent metal mechanisms).
