The Village — Local services in Buena Vista

This store has amazing merchandise. There are so many unique items that are all beautifully displayed throughout the space. The women, who must be owners, are so rude though. It is a shame that they are so thoughtless and can’t “read the room.” We walked in, and one of them ran up and said, “are you ready to check out?” I guess she didn’t see that we had just walked in the door. We were interested in the felt flowers and stood for a long time wondering about making a bouquet. Not once did either woman even look away, from their conversation with each other, to ask if we needed help and /or answer any questions. We then tried to buy a pair of mittens which were tied with a string. There were two pairs and each pair had a mismatched “partner.” We asked if we could put the correct matching mitten with its’ “mate.” The owner said, “no, they are supposed to be sold mismatched.” She answered with such a snotty voice that we just ended up leaving. In the end, they lost out on hundreds of dollars in sales. I would have bought a felt “tooth-ferry,” felt flowers, reusable snack containers for lunches, some beautiful tumblers, matching wine glasses, and a darling baby bib with a pocket in front. Don’t bother shopping or spending your money here because you won’t feel like you “gave a vote” for “fair trade,” you will only feel disappointed that two unprofessional women, who really don’t care and have lousy attitudes, are in charge of helping less fortunate women try to...

The store is nothing special, sub par at best. I was really disappointed in their employees customer service too. My family was confronted by a worker after acknowledging their shop dog who was sitting on their front steps. The dog was sitting there calming and was showing no signs of being in distress. If the worker isn't comfortable with people letting her dog sniff hands of their customers and people walking by on the street then they shouldn't be bringing their dog and making the customers feel wrong for doing so. Overall Buena Vista is a beautiful town but this store and the people working there do not represent that unfortunately and I was left with a very bitter taste...
