I hope this message finds the public well. I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the recent incident
I experienced at Character World in the Mall of Georgia. I believe it is crucial to bring this matter to your attention, as it reflects poorly on the store's customer service and may warrant further investigation.
Today, I visited the store with the intention of purchasing a Christmas giftâa sword from the anime "Demon Slayer." Unfortunately, the interaction I had with one of your employees was not only unprofessional but also left me feeling discriminated against. Upon inquiring about the price of the swords, the employee informed me that they cost $400. I expressed my willingness to make a purchase and requested to see the items. Shockingly, I was denied the opportunity to view the merchandise under the pretense that they were expensive. This refusal seemed unjustified, as I was fully prepared to make a purchase. To add insult to injury, the employee proceeded to demand my ID without any reasonable cause. I want to emphasize that he had not even attempted to retrieve the item for me to examine, yet he chose to question my ability to afford it. Despite my compliance with this request, the situation escalated, and I was ultimately refused service. The employee, who I believe was a white male with tall hair, even went so far as to call the police.
I find it necessary to bring this incident to your attention and inform you that I am considering pursuing legal action based on potential discrimination. I believe that the store's security footage will provide an accurate account of the events that transpired. I am willing to make this footage public, and I am even contemplating requesting police body camera footage to support my case.
I understand the importance of addressing customer concerns promptly, and I hope that you will thoroughly investigate this matter. I expect a timely response and resolution to this issue. Furthermore, I will be posting my experience publicly, including the picture of the person involved, in the interest of transparency. It has come to my attention post-incident that the employee with long hair, whom I encountered during my visit, has a history of treating customers poorly. This information was not known to me at the time of my visit and significantly heightens the need for a thorough examination of the interactions involving this individual. The consistency of negative reviews online reflects a pattern of behavior that requires urgent attention. Moreover, during the incident, I felt unfairly targeted not only by the aforementioned employee but also by two female employees who acted aggressively towards me.
Their behavior was not only unprofessional but added to the distressing nature of the encounter. I want to emphasize that my actions were a means of self-preservation in response to what I perceived as discrimination. Had I been treated with respect and courtesy, the situation would not have escalated to the degree it did.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I hope that steps will be taken to ensure a more respectful and inclusive shopping experience for all...
Read morePay attention when they ring you up. I bought a blind box keychain here and bought another one less than an hour later and was charged a completely different amount. I pulled out my receipt from before to show the cashier the difference and he simply said âI wasnât on the register before so I donât know anything about that.â and completed the transaction anyways. I honestly didnât know what to say. I told him again that I was charged two different amounts for the same item and he got someone else to talk to me. The other associate told me that âthe item wasnât in the system beforeâ (less than an hour ago) and that âeveryone did their job rightâ implying that I was raising hell by simply telling them I was rung up incorrectly. Instead of offering to fix the mistake he told me I could take some hi-chew to make up the difference. I didnât press the issue because it was only a couple of dollars but it was extremely rude of the first employee to completely ignore what I said and the second employee to belittle me by acting like I was being unreasonable and telling me to just take some candy instead of fixing the issue.
The receipt doesnât show any items, only the total. So if you are rung up incorrectly there isnât much youâll be able to do unless you catch it immediately. Even if you do, there clearly still isnât...
Read moreCharacter World used to be a store that I actively would hang out in for about 30 minutes to an hour and talk with the staff. However over the last couple of years I stopped going here mostly because one of the main guys there doesn't like me and I don't know why. He's never openly told me and he ignores me anytime I walked in so I stopped going because he's the only staff there that's consistent. I feel awkward and I don't want to walk in.
I've met Lydia-san several times and she's a very nice lady. She owns multiple stores other than just character world. This woman has got to be loaded. She owns stores I believe here in Georgia, Kentucky, and I think Florida. I don't hate the store I'm just disappointed in the staff.
Lydia if you're ever reading this you're still an...
