Decided to take my bonus daughter to Von Maur to select a high end perfume as it was going to be a Valentine’s Day gift and she has really developed a love for high end perfumes. We both decided on the Jean Paul Gautier La Belle. I asked the associate if they provided samples and she advised that they did not. I stated that that’s one of the main reasons I buy my perfumes from Nordstrom because they usually give a sample or two and she may want to mention it or make a suggestion. The associates proceeds to ask me if I would rather purchase the perfume at Nordstrom instead? What an ignorant comment to make to a customer with credit card in hand ready to purchase over $350 worth of perfume?! Although, I wanted to purchase the perfume for both my bonus daughter and I, I decided to take the associate up on her snarky comment. I declined to purchase and called Nordstrom Perimeter and placed an order for a comparable perfume. Two thumbs down Von Maur. The grandma Karen with the crewcut and heavy makeup working in the Women’s clothes section on the second floor on September 13th, 2025 needs to find another job that’s not in customer sales. I have never felt so unwelcome in a store. I was sitting while waiting for my mom to finish trying on her clothes. She had gone in because there were no attendants available that weren’t busy. She then came into the fitting rooms later asking where my mom had gone. The fitting room was completely empty. The tone of her voice was accusing. She acted like we didn’t have the right to be there. She then said she was reserving a fitting room for a customer, mind you it was empty. She locked the door and left. My mom decided to purchase the shirt and the old woman decided to start to pretend and butter us up to make some commission off of us. I have never seen a person change so quickly. We told her we were going to look around some more and we would not be checking out with her. Do what you will with this but if I see her again then I will be having a word with...

I have shopped here a few times and have been pleasantly surprised by how nice it is. It's not just shopping- it's an experience! Many stores you have to track down an employee but I always have employees asking for help here. The kids section is absolutely adorable! My daughter loves looking at the toys and they have a lot of local toys not mass produced from China. The bathrooms are gorgeous! Again- an experience. My biggest reason to shop here is they do complimentary gift wrapping and it is absolutely beautiful. It elevates the gifting experience and makes it feel even more extravagant. As far as prices, it compares to other stores. But I find people are so used to shopping cheap things from Amazon that they aren't used to shopping in person. I'd rather pay a bit more to support brick and morter stores as I don't want them to close. My ONLY complaint is I wish it were bigger with more selection. Maybe even a home decor section.
