Montana Folk Festival — Local services in Butte

I've lived in Montana for 45 years but this was my first visit to the Folk Festival. We went on Sunday. The musical groups that we saw were all interesting at the very least and some were pretty danceable. Kiki Valera y Son Cubano fell into the danceable category, Chaksampa fell in the interesting and educational category. I enjoyed all of the music that we listened to.

We only went to two different venues, ARCO Granite Street and The Original. I liked The Original the best as it had grass to sit on.

Vendors that I patronized: My favorite food was the drunken noodles from Tum Tum Thai. I also liked the sampler from Mountain Man Kettle Corn.

This is a premiere event that is well organized with a variety of musicians, folk artists, and craftsmen. The Festival is always help in Butte, MT in July. 21 different musical groups representing world cultures perform in rotation on 5 different stages. There is truly something for everyone. The festival is FREE and runs like a well tuned machine up and down the hills of historic uptown Butte. The Butte people are welcoming and friendly and the crowds are a great mix of all age groups and types. Plenty of food trucks and artisans add to the festive atmosphere. Traveling around the country and pulled into town from Idaho to get a porkchop sandwich from Pork Chop John's. Started following a crowd of people, out of curiosity, not knowing I hit a festival weekend. The Friday night music was excellent!! It was a BIG crowd and rightly so.
