The land of inconveniences. I'm a student with a broken laptop and ordered a pc through ups. I sent it there so it wouldnt get stolen on my doorstep. But I should have just risked it getting stolen.
I've been trying to get my package for four days. They refused to hold it there because of a fee I had never heard of before, when I had already paid shipping and freight. If I didn't pay the $50 fee with specifically a cashiers check or money order (because they won't take debit or cash for reasons unexplained to me) then my package would be sent back after two more missed delivery attempts. Mind you this is during finals week when I desperately need that new pc.
I had to drive an hour and back to my bank to get them a cashiers check. It was supposedly accepted and I went home. They called the next morning to say the check could not be accepted, because the check contained $55 when they asked for $54.68. I had drive for two hours AGAIN for ANOTHER cashiers check because they refused the first one for being only 32 cents over what I owed them. I was never told it had to be exact. I was sick and exhausted and had to call out from work to do this stupid fetch quest so they wouldn't send my package back to the sender.
If I was told it had to be exact or they just accepted normal tender then that would not have happened. I don't even know why the fee had to be paid for them to simply hold my package at the store, they just said they couldn't hold it until the fee was paid. Why couldn't they have held it and I paid the fee at pick up? Why couldn't I pay it online? I would at least been less panicked that way.
They also informed me the package would be there around 5 on the last day, so I forced myself to stay awake, sick, waiting hours for the call that it had arrived, only to have to call myself, be hung up on, and call again to be told it wouldn't be there until the next day.
Failure to communicate with your customers when there's a time limit to when they can pick up their packages is ridiculous. I'd rather my packages be stolen than...
Read moreThis morning I went into your location to pick up an Access Point Package. When I approached the counter, I told the guy behind the counter that I was there to pick up a package and I stated my name and my address. He then proceeded to ask me for identification. I don’t understand why that was necessary because what is the likelihood a thief would walk into your location and give my name and address knowing that I had a package to pickup. But an even bigger issue I have is that the woman that was ahead of me in line asked the same gentleman for the mail out of a PO Box and he just went to the back and got it and gave it to her. She didn’t tell him her name nor did he ask for any identification. So why I was asked for identification and she wasn’t? And don’t give me the excuse that he knew her and he normally gives her the mail, because if that were true he wouldn’t have asked her what she needed when she approached the counter. I’m in there quite often picking up packages, yet I’m always asked to show my ID. Besides gender, the only difference between the woman and myself is our race. If rules are set in place then they should be followed by EVERYONE, not...
Read moreThe UPS Store in Calera is the best shipping depot in Shelby County, imo! The personnel are always friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. If you're waiting in a line they have a pleasant way of putting everyone at ease. It's like a "no rush, no worry, just chill zone". Not everybody is always 100% ready with their package(s) and sometimes questions need answers. The folks working behind the counter make sure you are treated good and business is conducted thoroughly in your interest so that no mistakes are made. I think customers notice that and know when it's their turn, they will be treated with the same focus & attentive behavior. It's the way a place that is responsible for shipping items should be operated because you never know how important that item is or what it means. I'm fortunate to live close to the Calera UPS Store and if I didn't, I would still drive the extra miles. I want to add that they maintain a clean store and keep a good inventory of many items needed for...
