Extremely friendly staff! They were all very helpful to the best of their abilities (maybe).
I had recently closed my kohls credit account and had an item purchased with the credit card that needed to be returned. When I reached the customer service desk and told them that I would be returning the item, they asked no questions and quickly attempted to refund the item back to the credit card.
I then told them no that card had been closed, so they scrambled to quickly refund it to a kohls gift card.
I told them that I didn’t want to receive a gift card. They explained that they were not able to return the money any other way, so I asked if a manager could help.
They were both very helpful to the best of their abilities (maybe), but this is where I was starting to become a bit confused: the manager also explained that they were not able to refund my item any other way than to transfer the money to a gift card. I asked if that was the return policy, and they boasted about their management status while insisting that they have really very nice products for sale and that there was surely something interesting that I could find to purchase. I explained that I hardly visit kohls and was hoping to visit a nearby store with the refunded money for something for my son that only they carry.
I was told again we are not able to refund the item for anything other than a gift card and that is how it has always been.
At this point I am thinking that they probably have never dealt with this specific situation before.
So I took a moment to review the return policies myself, but could not find a resolution to my specific situation on the website or on the kohls card policy. I then asked management to review the policy for me, but was politely denied.
I tried contacting kohls through their text message feature, which I thought was a great concept, but received no response.
After several minutes of explaining the situation over a call to kohls card customer support, who also had to ask their manager, they finally asked to speak with the customer service representative.
They explained that they were in fact able to give me a cash refund in the form of a check, but needed the item refunded to the credit card first. I could then call kohls credit support and have them send a check to my mailbox.
The customer service employee then hands me a receipt out of nowhere, explaining that the item was refunded to my credit card. It seemed like they were either extremely fast at their job, or they had already known where this process was going.
This was a very complicated and seemingly redundant process, and I couldn’t tell if the team was just not educated on credit card returns, or if they were trying to keep the money in kohls’s hand as best they could. Either scenario, in my opinion, reflects negatively toward management.
Either way, it was very inconvenient and left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially considering that I was not offered any apologies.

   Read moreDo not order online and do vehicle pick up. Worst experience with this!! When we acknowledged we were there our order changed to picked up about 2 minutes later. When then guy came out he dropped everything on the ground across the parking lot. I went to help and he just said where is your car. When I opened the door he shoved everything in and turned around to go back in. I asked if that was everything and if he needed to scan my receipt or phone, he said he already did that. When I started verifying everything to make sure it was there I realized some of the items were smashed and had broke or was opened. I asked about the damaged items and he said "That's the way they pack'em and turned around and walked away! Then realized I was missing half of the over $300 order. I then had to go inside which defeated the purpose of the online order to try to resolve the issue and get the missing items. The customer service representative did a good job trying to fix the issue. However, once inside you could see the from her response she was being overwhelmed with having to fix other issues. She had to go shop for the items which again defeated the purpose of my pick up order. She gave me a corporate number and said I should call when she help take my order to the vehicle.
