I was so excited to stumble upon Sword and Board Games this weekend. We were in the mall to visit Santa, and my 8 year old wanted to stop by Target to get PokĆ©mon cards, but they were all out. My son was bummed. We did not know about this shop yet. While he and my husband were at the food court, I ran to security to turn in a ring I found, and happened to pass this store. I stopped in on my way back to inquire about the cards, and they had a whole section stocked full of them. The two guys in there were extremely nice. I told them to expect an overly excited 8 year old to come zooming in, in a couple of minutes. Sure enough, my son jumped up and down when I told him about the shop and he ran down there. Both guys were very engaging with my son, and they discussed the various odds of certain PokĆ©mon being in the packs he picked. We were also impressed that they had the new series that was just released. This is the difference between a local specialty shop and a store like Target. They love what they do, and they are able to match my kidās excitement and answer his questions. I am so happy we were able to support a local shop when we got our cards.
We were in a bit of a rush, so we didnāt stay long, but we will 100% be back. The store is well laid out, seems well stocked, and has a very inviting atmosphere. I wish them nothing but success, and would encourage anyone looking for card/board games to...

We walked through the mall and found and proceeded to play board games we pulled off the shelf for a couple of hours. There was such a nice selection that it took us way too much time to pick a game. We had an absolute blast and would recommend it for anyone in the area! They host tournaments, have a figure painting station, and the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis Game store is a Gem, a new era for the capitola mall. They got the books, the the minis, the math rocks, and the space to game. The humans who work there were very knowledgeable. The drip and Rizz from the man behind the counter was an expert experience. Matthew? Jason? Dude in a kilt. He knew his shit. Also the store owner is a giant human with a great smile, and definitely makes the store a safe place. You are missing out if you don't visit this little treasure.
