Ohhh honey, where do I even begin with the fever dream that was our visit to Sea Shack Candy Co. in Carmel? I found this candy shop on TikTok and thought it would be a great place to find unique, around the world candy to buy for my Mom and I. With positive energy and high hopes, we walked into the shop. The fantasy ENDED at the front door. When we walked in, only ones in the store, mind you, not even a “hi,” “hello,” “how are you” from the solo employee behind the counter. Girl, we weren’t expecting a confetti cannon, but a simple greeting? Manners are free, boo. Still, we kept it cute. My mom and I grabbed those self-serve candy bags and got to mixin and matchin. When we got to check out, total comes out to OVER $80 for two medium-ish bags of candy... gurl, I almost needed a sugar-free EpiPen from da SHOCK. Now listen, I’m not new to the Swedish candy game. My fav spot is BonBon in NYC, shoutout y’all, NEVER pulled this mess. Same type of candy, way better prices, and better vibes. But okay, we swiped the card because, let’s be real, decline? We don’t know hur. Before leaving with our PURCHASED bags of candy, I politely asked if I could sample one piece of a candy I didn’t grab, just to know for maybe next time. Immediately she told me, "you can sample the candy that you purchased" 😐 ummmm, huh? My mom thought maybe she misunderstood, so she re-asked da gurl and miss thing says, “no, I can’t give you a sample”... if you walk into a See's candy, Costco, Lindt, an Ice cream store, a Froyo store, or even a direct candy competitor like BonBon, a simple sample of 1 PIECE of candy is offered COMPLIMENTARY!! You’re telling me you just snatched $80 from us, gave zero customer service, and can’t offer a SINGLE gummy for a taste test? what a perfect addition to the peninsula sea shack candy co. is! i've been wanting to try swedish candy for a long time and have never had an opportunity to -- until now! they have a HUGE selection of swedish candy, chocolate, and so much more! the staff are all incredibly helpful and kind. when you walk in, your mood immediately elevates. it's so colorful and fun inside! you can purchase candy in bulk or pre-packaged; there's something for every sweet tooth out there! parking is limited to the street, which is the perfect excuse to check out all the shops nearby. will absolutely be back, and can't wait to try something...
