Fabulous shop, beautiful hats, with a knowledgeable proprietor. I had a suspicion that Michael G and Aiden C would try to cause trouble. I was in the shop when the so called "brash and unfriendly" treatment towards "trans and non-binary people" occurred... What I saw/heard was a shop owner trying to protect his product. The hat in question is lovely. Obviously the owner's wife put in a lot of time and care. The proprietor asked the obviously sweaty, visually male customer not to try on the "women's" hats. Did I think this was because he is "homophobic/transphobic""? No. Women's hats run smaller than men's hats. No one wants to try on a hat (men's or women's) that was tried on previously by a sweaty, big headed person. It isn't like you can take a hat home and wash it in the laundry. Quality hats are not play things to try on and possibly damage, stretch, or dirty. If you are a sweaty mess, you have no business trying on any hat. Also, it was not the shop owner who asked you to leave... you said "well I guess I won't try on any hats then" to which the owner replied, "You can do what you want. Maybe next time you will ask the proprietor to help you find an appropriately sized product before you go stuffing your over-sized,...
Read moreMine was a wonnnderful experience....altho, remotely. My friend was visiting CA and happened into the hat shoppe. She happened to post a picture on FB of herself trying on one of the FaBuLouS hats. In her post I spotted an adorrrrable, fluffy, clouche hat that I knew immediately I had to have! She mentioned to the owner, Chris, that her friend loved one of the hats in her picture. I looked online but they don't offer online purchasing on their website, but later in the day I called the shop and spoke to Chris. He chuckled & remembered the conversation and immediately knew EXACTLY which hat I was talking about! He was so kind and accommodating and was more than happy to allow me to make the purchase over the phone, he packed it up nicely, even enclosed a lovely note, and made a special trip to the post office to mail it right out to me...all the way to New Hampshire!!! How sweet is that! It arrived this evening and I love it!! And not a moment too soon because it's in the teens in NH tonight!! It means even more because he told me that his Wife crafts all their hats by hand!!! Thank you Chris & Mary ~ I will treasure my beautiful Carmel Hat!!! ...
Read moreI'm an Asian. The owner(maybe) is a tall white guy. He called me "small man" when I was signing on the receipt(I didn't do anything wrong of course and so he was very kind until then, I even didn't talk much. I just asked about hats, talked like hats are nice, and that's all. I was absolutely polite and careful because the store is very narrow. Me and my wife spent just for about 5 minutes in the store, but suddenly he attacked me when I was signing. Insane. Besides, I'm not small.). I didn't respond immediately because I didn't want to ruin birthday of my wife. I think he who is a big guy working in the "small" store is out of his mind. Also his mouth is out of control. Visitors, be careful especially when you finally sign on your receipt. Since he will show you...
