My boyfriend and I stopped by before our long drive out to Wallowa, choosing this shop because of its rating. I'm not scoring the atmosphere, as it is a Christian establishment, and someone's taste in decor and beliefs is a personal thing and not for me to judge. The older lady working the cash register seemed a bit harried and not particularly welcoming. Still not a huge deal, everyone has off days. The coffee was tasty, but the issue (and reason for the low stars) was the breakfast burritos. We bought two and headed out. We were almost to The Dalles before we took them out of the brown paper bag, and to our unpleasant surprise, saw that the burritos had Victorico's wrappers on them. If this burrito wasn't pre-frozen, then the only other Victorico's I know is the chain of Mexican food restaurants. Which leads me to ask, did this coffee shop buy a grip of burritos and toss them in the fridge? They definitely microwaved them (in full view of anyone ordering). Which, even Starbucks tosses things into little ovens to warm things up, so not a surprise. But the fact that I paid almost $10 for EACH tiny burrito that was previously made by a different business, microwaved, and then given to me is ridiculous. There is not a SINGLE note anywhere in their information that these are either pre-frozen or from a restaurant that is a step above from fast food. It seemed genuinely dishonest, though I don't think that was their intention. If you look at my other reviews, I typically leave good ones, so I hope that people seeing this will understand I'm not just a rando Karen who hates everything and everyone. Perhaps this isn't a big deal to most (and I don't expect any coffee shop to cook their burritos fresh), but I also don't expect to pay $20 for two smashed, microwaved burritos. My boyfriend and I try really hard to support local businesses - and you should still pop in and try their coffee. Just maybe opt for a pastry or something else. Even without the microwaving, the burritos tasted like the color beige and aren't...
ย ย ย Read moreI live in Stevenson, and decided to snail my way over the beautiful Bridge of the Gods to "hike" on the easy-to-walk paved trails of the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail. I thought a nice hot latte would be just the thing to keep me company, but I hadn't noticed anyplace in town to go for a latte, until now that is. This low-key on the outside, ...modern and fresh on the inside, small-town, coffee shop...other-wise known as, The Thirsty Coffee Bar, was easy to find and did not disappoint!!! The coffee was really fantastic, and perhaps just as importantly, came as ordered...16 oz. Skinny hazelnut...extra hot...no foam...dee-LI-CI-ous!!! There were many delectable temptations to eat that I saw, but I was out to walk to BURN calories...i didn't want to put more on before I had even begun. But I'm not gonna lie...as i sit here writing this...I have the worst craving for the huge piece of pumpkin cake with a quarter inch white frosting that i saw while I was there....UGH! Well maybe...
ย ย ย Read moreStopped by here for the first time after hearing nothing but positive reviews. The drinks were ok, but the service was soo bad. First off, the the blonde had her mouth full when she opened the window and held up a finger to us. Never making any eye contact or greeting. She barely acknowledged us even while taking our order. And when asked about the Lotus energy drink, her exact words were, I donโt know, you just pick your Lotus then we add soda water. She seemed clearly put out and aloof. My husbandโs drink, salted caramel latte, that he has gotten many times before by the other baristas, that he has raved about, said this time it was not good. Major turn off. Hopefully she gets more training., this place has a lot of potential for longevity, if they can avoid providing service that instigates a review such as this.
Update:- reading the other reviews, it appears theyโre also regarding the lack of service and rudeness from the full-figured blonde โ. I hope the owner or mgr...
