I really like the idea of a place like this. And I'll say it "works" like they say. You really do just walk in, grab your stuff, and walk out without going to a register or even scanning the items as you go. That process worked, but it still felt strange, even with the one employee there explaining how it all worked.

Now, the reason for my score is due to price, app usability, and checkout experience.

Most of all the items in this place are pretty pricey compared to other stores. Though I may not be used to other more dedicated organic and healthy type markets. Felt in line with whole foods, though, so your experience may vary.

Next, the app required felt a little lacking, and it seemed a bit unintuitive. I struggled a bit setting up my account, and the check out process didn't make sense at first.I mean, it's not that you have to do anything but just trying to find where your stuff would appear and how quickly it was, messed with my expectations.

It took quite a bit, like at least 5 mins to register that I had even bought something and quite a bit later to even show what I got. Maybe this is normal, but it felt unnerving, especially when I got the final receipt and saw it charged me for a similar item but a much more expensive one.

Thankfully, they had a dispute function. I struggled to send a dispute at first cuz that option almost didn't make sense of how you set it to dispute and add your comment. But I figured it out and sent a request. (Update) My dispute actually got updated after about a day. If that's the case that seems fine.

My biggest concern is if numerous items came out wrong. It seems like a nightmare on both sides to deal with. Time will tell, but I'm hesitant after my first time.

It's a cool concept, but maybe just not the place for me yet. It probably needs some kinks worked out over time. Maybe with a few updates, it'll be better. Till then, it's on the list...

This store labels itself "autonomous and frictionless" because there are no cashiers and even no self-checkout. You download the Greepicks app and scan yourself into the store. The entire store is equipped with cameras and sensors that know what you've put in your bag. When you are done shopping, you walk out, and your card is charged for the items you pick up. A very friendly manager on duty explained the whole process to us. Prices were like any other store, but the experience was like nothing I'd done before.

Like any new concept, shopping like this will take a little getting used to but I loved the energy and the execution here. I am hoping a location opens...
