I've had two very unpleasant experiences at this store in the last two days. One with a manager named Brad and another with someone working in the print area named Simon.
Let's start with Brad. I brought an item to the cash register and when Ralph rang it up the sale price did not come up. Just then Brad walked past and Ralph held up the item to catch Brad's attention. Brad clearly in a hurry and annoyed asked "what" and when Ralph stumbled with what he was trying to ask Brad became highly annoyed and stated "what what just say it" and then barked some commands about the cash register. Rather than get barked at again Ralph turned the display so Brad could see it and Brad stomped off to get the correct price without saying a word. I was stunned and Ralph was clearly embarrassed. What a lack of common courtesy and respect Brad showed to this employee and myself. The fact that Ralph is clearly in his mid 70's made it even more heartbreaking. Brad I can only hope that when you are that age some impatient little man such as yourself treats you with as much disdain and disrespect as you showed Ralph. Maybe then you will understand how out of line you were.
Regarding Simon. I came in to ask what type of "postcard" style mailer was available as I had had such great success with some business cards I had printed there recently. Right of the bat Simon stated that he would need my artwork and he would have to send them out to be printed. I politely asked him if since I designed my business cards right there and they were printed while I waited was that an option and if so what was the price range? He very begrudgingly went to the computer and started to look at the web site. I then asked him if he was familiar with the pre made templates. He ignored the question and quickly went about filling in blanks and clicking on items. After about 30 seconds he said he would need to send them out. I again asked him if he was familiar with pre made templates that could be printed there and amazingly I had to prod him again to get him to confess that he was not familiar with the products available. I don't think Simon could have been any less helpful. He clearly was not interested in helping me. I thanked him for being so unhelpful and called him lazy and walked out.
A store where the manager treats co-workers with such disrespect and employees are so unengaged is not my idea of helpful. I can always order these products online from other vendors or go to...
Read moreWell, I have been using this store for many years. The encounter I had with Rachel today was horrible. I asked if she could point me in the direction of a charger for my son's TI 84. She was short and rude. (With an eye roll) Her response was less than friendly and helpful. Fortunately, the other cashier (I didn't get his name) overheard her rudeness and her lack customer service skills and he jumped into action. He said, "I can help you sir". He was so helpful that it took him a few minutes to locate the actual charger. We went to two different places in the store and finally we found the charger. The male employee who help me had his "radar on" for not only good customer service but recognized he should take me to a different cash register (away from Rachel) as she was still standing at the register I first encountered her. Still doing nothing I might add - She could have just showed me where I could go to find the charger. I wouldn't have to spend my time calling their corporate office and writing this review. I get people have bad days. But in the customer service business, you have to put a smile on your face and help when someone asks. Being RUDE takes more effort than just being helpful and nice. My rating reflects the young man who helped me with my order (5 Star) and Rachel's (-1 Star). If she would have apologized for her lack of customer service as I was walking out, I wouldn't have spent the time to write this review. The AWESOME thing is that her co-worker had the company's back by realizing Rachel's lack of customer service skills. Additionally, I spoke with their corporate office in Florida. The customer service rep, Lihlithmba M. was most helpful by listening and repeating verbatim my encounter with Rachel. Overall, Office Depot listens to their customers and appear that they will spend the time to provide the employee the necessary skills to provide...
Read moreI arrived about 25 minutes before closing and as I walked in the door I headed straight for the printing counter to get 2 bus passes laminated. I was ready to hand over the passes when Brian asked if I could pick them up tomorrow, I thought he was joking,( I've laminated things myself and it takes about a minute to laminate two credit card sized bus passes). I told him I'd done this before and it didn't take that long to laminate two credit card sized passes (even if he had had to warm up the machine, it would not have taken more than a few minutes I'm sure). No, he was serious and I was seriously not going to wait and said no; wow such awesome customer service, considering he was just standing there at the front door when I walked in and as I walked away from the counter he continued to stand there for yet another minute leaving me to think that during that time he could have laminated both my bus passes and kept a customer happy, obviously that wasn't his priority. I concur with another review that said something very similar, I felt as if I was interrupting his "closing" when I asked him where things were located. By the way, I did read a review that was about 4 months old that sounded similar to my experience, so it shows that nothing has been done about this horrible customer service and treatment; I think next time I'll plan to shop at another store where I can be treated correctly and not as though I'm...
