I am a former U.S. Marine, a veteran and a disabled veteran at that. I was helping a friend of mine in the area yesterday and needed some item's. And since I "usually" shop at Home Depot, we stopped in this particular store to purchase our items. And since both Home Depot and Lowe's, as well as many other big box stores offer a daily 10% discount for veterans, I pulled out my "state issued" driver's license. Which is clearly marked on both front and back with veteran. North Carolina only designates your license or identification with this status if you go to the DMV and provide them with either your DD214 or DD215; which are then scanned into their state database for their permanent records. There was a lady named Brenda doing the checkout and she was pretty much the rudest and most disrespectful woman that I've encountered in quite some time. I was told bye her that my ID was no good and that the discount was only valid for retired and disabled veterans. With a growing line in back of us, she proceeded to produce a laminated placard and held it up in front of my face and while tapping on it with her finger. She began lecturing me on my unacceptable ID. My friend said don't worry about it. He gave her a number for tax exempt status and after being unable to complete that transaction, she began telling him as well that his number was no good either. Another Home Depot employee named Theresa came over to assist her and was trying to explain the correct procedure for completing this transaction, she began to backtalk her also. Theresa politely informed her that if she would listen for a moment, she was trying too explain the procedure to her. I Googled corporate policy later and "ALL" veteran's are entitled to the 10% discount on a daily basis. I'm quite sure that the CEO of Home Depot; Arthur Blank, would be less than pleased with the disparaging manner in which "Brenda" was treating his customers, in particular the veterans. I would have spoken directly to the manager at this store, but my schedule and timing was very tight at the time. This is exactly why the state of North Carolina issues these designations on your state issued driver's license or ID with proper documentation, so that you can avail yourself of these discounts. Read moreI had tried to buy a mower from home depot based on their web site availability and delivery of next day... twice they canceled aftwr i stayed at home from 6am to 8pm late afternoon saying they dont have it.... this time I drove 45 minutes to this location to see in person the john deere riding mower and touch it and make sure they sell me what is there really in their inventory. They were showing 2 online and available to be delivered next day on friday this week. The service person who rang it up for me said they can't deliver it on Friday as it says on home depot web site (as she was checking some system for delivery and can only be delivered on Saturday, to which I said sure. She also said for 20 extra I can shorten the window of delivery from 6am to 8pm to 6am to 10am. I said fine. I will wait for Saturday if they can deliver it. It is now Friday at 8pm, I got a notification that they rescheduled it. I called the store and talked to Brandon who said 2 different stories, the first one "we need to have this assembled and inspected before we can ship it and inspector is not there till Monday", when I asked why they couldn't tell me this on Thursday he had no answer and insisted that is the story, when I asked to talk to manager he said story 2 "when you ordered the mower, we sent the order to a local home depot to get you the mower and they told us today they don't have one"... mind blown at this time, I asked politely (oh I wanted to scream at this point but what is the point of that)... why would you do that when I saw the mower right there and that the only reason your sales person sold it to me... I insisted to talk to store manager at this point... after I explained to him the situation he kept saying we have to have it inspected for warranty reasons... I asked "your people told me when they can deliver although you website says next they delivery... and I accepted that and even paid you guys more"... answer "that person made a mistake.."... so easy these days to just tell the customer to take it or leave it... I am done with Home Depot and their shifty service and less than enthusiastic employees to help their customers who are willing to pay over 3000 for a merchandise... I can not wait for things to turn in buyers...
Read moreOk so first of all THEY CHARGE FOR PAINT STIR STICKS!! Those things cost what, all of $0.03 to make and at home depot you have to buy them for $0.89 plus tax now! Lol what on earth has the world come to. Now as a professional painter I have to admit this is absolutely ridiculous! You can't give 1 stir stick away with a $50 gallon of paint? Then I was forced to purchase an entire case of this laminate flooring when I seriously only needed 1 plank. At Lowe's you can purchase individual planks however they don't carry this specific product or brand and my client picked this junk out on his own without knowing how much home depot has changed. So now my client is stuck with an entire case of this stuff and had nothing left he could use it for so it will forever be a waste and sit in his garage. Ok on to the ONLY good thing I noticed at home depot as of July 27 2018... They did have a better selection of paint tools to purchase than Lowe's does. So I guess they will get business from me maybe once a year, if that, to load up on some paint tools that have gotten lost or stolen over the previous year. But aside from that, their prices are now a lot higher than lowes, like a lot higher. They charge for absolutely ridiculous stuff like stir sticks! Their stores are dark, dingey, dirty, and unorganized in comparison to Lowe's. Now I guess if they were the ONLY home improvement store within like 20 miles I would still use them. But being that there is a Lowe's almost directly across the street, the only way home depot will ever get my business is once a year for their selection of paint tools, unless Lowe's gets better about their selection. If another client up and buys materials on his own without conversing with me prior to again. Or if I have absolutely no other option aside from home depot. Which is super sad bc as a professional I used to prefer home depot. Their pricing used to blow Lowe's out of the water but that started changing a few years back which is what led to me changing my daily shopping from home depot to Lowe's and I am not exaggerating when I say daily shopping. I go to Lowe's everyday for work and it used to be home depot until they went down hill. Anyone else miss the old...
