
The new Chatham attitude? Or just the Yellow Umbrella?
So heading into the bookstore, I notice their sign, No Food or Drinks. In compliance, I finish off my bottle of Diet Coke before heading in to shop.
I immediately head over to the 20yr old guy at the counter, and ask him politely if I can toss my empty 12oz bottle into their trash.
His cold and rude response, “There is a trash can outside”. (Which was a quarter of a block down, in the pouring rain.)
Needless to say I won’t be giving them any of my money. But what the heck has happened to Chatham when a used bookstore starts treating their customers this way? Sigh. Double sigh.

Read moreI went in to buy a couple books and the man that works there came up to my daughter and took them from her hands without speaking to me. Said she couldn’t hold them and play with them.
After saying that nothing else was going to be ok.
With children, you ALWAYS talk to the parent first.
My daughter was just sitting in her stroller looking through a book that I was going to buy.
It was an honest SHAME because this bookstore was the 1st reason we drove 3 hours to see.
On the other hand, the other bookstore in the area was SUPER friendly with us and loved that my daughter loved books. We bought four books at their bookstore and had an amazing rest of our time...

Smith's 𝘞𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳-- the cashier took a brief glimpse at the book jacket and started computing into the cash register. No one could prepare me for what I saw next. I stood aghast at a used, 90-page book getting priced at $26-- the original price was $24 on the book jacket, for your information.
