Short review:
The staff at this jewelry store don't listen. They try to gaslight you. They are unprofessional and rude. They do sneaky things with your jewelry. We don't plan to purchase anything at Long Jewelers in the future.
Detailed review:
My husband and I have been in this jewelry store multiple times in the past 4 months, each visit having something to do with my engagement ring/wedding band.
Visit one (late May/early June): My husband (fiancé at the time) and I went in to look at wedding bands that would match and fit next to my engagement ring that he purchased from this jewelry store. No progress was made during this first visit.
Visit two (early/mid-June): We again went in to address the wedding band issue. We had to re-explain the wedding band dilemma all over again, as if we'd never been in before. We were told the staff would call the company that made my ring and get a wedding band custom-made. We were also told that the thickness of my engagement ring plus wedding band would keep my engagement ring from spinning on my finger (my finger was sized before the engagement ring was purchased/sized for my finger).
Before the next visit to Long Jewelers, a staff member requested that we bring in my engagement ring so that measurements could be taken for making the custom ring, which we did. This didn't make sense to us as the specs for my engagement ring should have already been on file with the jewelry store and the company that made my engagement ring.
Visit three (early July): We went in to pick up my custom-made wedding band. In the store, I immediately observed that the bands of my engagement ring and wedding band didn't match. (The spacing/depth of the diamonds on the bands and also how far down the diamonds were on the bands: one band also looks wider than the other band.) One of the staff members argued with me and told me they were the same. She said my engagement ring just needed its rhodium-plating redone and that the rings would then look the same. I asked why, after having the engagement ring for only 2 months, it would need new rhodium-plating already. She told me I wore it too much (!!). She said to get the rhodium-plating redone on the engagement ring the week of our wedding.
Visit four (early August): After getting the rhodium-plating redone and seeing that the rings still didn't match, my husband took my rings back and the owner took the wedding band and came back with it a few minutes later. He said he modified the ring and when my husband asked what he did, he told my husband it was a "trade secret." He refused to give details and also told my husband that the company that made the ring wouldn't deal with customers directly, only jewelry stores, so we could not directly address the issues with the company itself. Needless to say, the rings still don't match.
Visit five (mid-August): We went back to the store and explained our concerns again. A staff member agreed with us that the bands are different. I also showed her that the rings don't sit evenly on my finger. I showed her that both of the rings now spin on my fingers as well, rather than stay in place. She showed the rings to someone else and she then told us that if we place the wedding band on the other side of the engagement ring, the diamonds down the sides match!! We said that this didn't address the issues we described and that she acknowledged moments earlier. Shd then took the rings to another staff member and they discussed that the rings had a different "radius." She then came back to where we were sitting, and told us the rings simply needed to be soldered together. At this point, we left.
I now have an engagement ring and wedding band that don't "fit" together or sit on my finger as they should, and that don't have the same looking bands. They spin anytime I move my hands. We have spent a lot of money (and time) on these rings and to have a custom-made ring with issues this business owner and his staff refuse to solve with integrity is quite upsetting. Read moreI recently inherited A 20+ yr old high-end TAG Heuer watch from my father who passed recently. It needed a new battery and the band required addition links (that I had). I normally don’t wear watches like this, nor did I even know where to start in order to get the work done for this kind of brand, but it had priceless value for me being my father’s. After calling several other Jeweler’s & authorize TAG Heuer retailers and being told they couldn't do any of the work on site and would have to send it out for weeks or months I was recommended Long’s by a friend. Elena took my call, instantly said they could take a look and likely do all the work! I went in that day and within 15 mins they had changed the battery. We discovered that I was missing some pins/screws for the additional links but offered to reach out to the manufacturer to inquire about ordering new ones. Two days later Elena called with a follow-up and unfortunately the required pins/screws were no longer available from the manufacturer, but they offered to help find a new replacement band. I went in that same day to look at new bands and their senior jeweler, Art, said he would take another look at it. Miraculously he was able to use parts on hand to make the links work and it now fits perfectly! I couldn’t be more thankful for the time, effort and passion that everyone involved took to help this now family heirloom come back to useful life. I’ll forever wear it with pride thinking of my father and one day pass it down to my son. I strongly recommend Long Jeweler’s for all your jeweler and watch needs. They are pros, patient & definitely gained another life long customer with me! Thank you to...
Read moreMy wife and I are renewing our vows in August after 43 years of marriage. To make it extra special, we wanted to get a new engagement ring and new wedding bands. We have been customers of Long Jewelers for several years, but only for relatively minor things like ring sizing and cleanings. But we were always very impressed with the excellent work of their jewelers and professionalism and friendliness of their staff (shout out to Queenie!). We went to the store with online photos of a ring set we liked and were planning to buy, but we wanted to give Steve Long (store owner) a chance to give us a better price and quality than the online rings (which I didn’t think was possible). Even though they didn’t have the rings we were looking for in the store, Steve took personal interest in our rings and went into hyper research mode, contacting his suppliers in Chicago and Houston to try and find us what we were looking for. What he found was even nicer than the rings we found online. I had it in my head that there was no way he could beat online pricing. Amazing to me, Steve was able to beat the price, quality and beauty of the online rings including the center stone of the engagement ring. When we went to pick up the rings, my wife and I were stunned by the beauty and sparkle of the engagement set. I have never seen rings that beautiful. We are so happy we chose Long Jewelers to get us our special rings and can’t recommend them highly enough. Thank you Steve and the great staff of...
